The Role
I enjoyed my placement as I was included as a team member from day one. Learning everyday routines to ensure that I was equipped to learn and engage in my job meant that I did not waste any time when joining. In this aspect, I would recommend to all. Thank you!
As soon as I arrived at the company, I was met by each member of my team. They introduced themselves and explained their role, and how they were going to aid my development over the ten weeks. In addition to our day to day routine, we went out for lunches, dinners and even played rounders!
At J.P. Morgan the hierarchy of the managers is not used to overpower individuals. I was working closely with VP's, ED's and on occasion MD's. There is a strong collaborative effort to ensure that the job is completed with optimal engagement from those at all levels thus aiding development.
I was given tasks and had regular meetings with my manager to ensure that I was on track with them all. I had enough work to keep me busy every day over the ten week period, and my projects came to fruition the day before I left thus showing the excellence in management and organisation of the staff.
I was in charge of my own projects and delegated work accordingly. I also helped other people in completing real life projects as opposed to hypothetical scenarios. This gave me a real sense of purpose as an intern and it helped me develop my skills in networking whilst growing my confidence in using new programmes.
Developing the art of networking and acquiring the talent of using new software on a daily basis is a skill that I will not only use in my final year at university, but a skill I will take into the rest of my career. J.P. Morgan gave me a strong foundation of knowledge in a very short space of time.
The Company
The ethos was strong and everybody was willing to help one another. On numerous occasions, I asked people outside of my team for help and they immediately put time in their diaries in order to aid my development. The strong culture of J.P. Morgan is the perfect place for anyone to grow.
The internship was organised very well. With regular social events and team meetings, interns were regularly updated on what was happening. HR were approachable at all times and made the transition for all university students very swift. I would highly recommend this J.P.Morgan internship for all university students from all backgrounds.
I was assigned numerous mandatory training sessions upon my arrival. These were all pre-paid for by the company. In addition to this, I was given access to the J.P. Morgan online portal which had access to endless different training courses all designed to aid the development of their employees across the firm.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
I look to continue my career at J.P. Morgan as in addition to the appealing company benefits, the strong culture of all staff members is something I would like to be a part of. The continuing support and motivation of managers would allow me to grow within myself and build a strong career.
The Culture
J.P Morgan encouraged interns to social with one another from the very first day. They arranged several social events which built strong friendships from the start. As the social scene developed, interns met up outside of the work place to liaise with one another through cinema trips to nights out.
The area in which we were situated was very appealing. The seaside town of Bournemouth had plenty to offer. The large shopping centre, to the modernised sea front provided great outdoor entertainment throughout the whole summer at our doorsteps. I would recommend the town of Bournemouth to anyone who is looking for a relaxing setting in which to work.
Bournemouth had a variety of night time activities for everyone. Whether one likes to party, shop, eat, anything! With a large number of bars looking over the sea front to nightclubs in the students towns. In addition to this, the prices were very reasonable. I will certainly be visiting Bournemouth for night time events now my internship is over.
I received e-mails on a regular basis regarding extra - curricular activities. J.P. Morgan ensure that the working environment is a comfortable, welcoming place for all of its employees. There are a wide range of different societies, all of which are available to interns. There is a tennis court available to use with a gym across the road.
