    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Thoroughly enjoyed working at JP Morgan, although the atmosphere was tense and very fast paced, there were numerous helpful employees there to support you and help you with anything you need. I would strongly recommend working at JP morgan as you can grow and the culture at JP morgan is also very good.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued by the employees from the moment that I walked through the doors of the company. Everybody treats you exactly as they would treat a senior staff and also with the same respect even though I was only an intern. Respect is taken very serious at JP Morgan and I felt that there.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a lot of support, not just by my manager but also by my colleagues. I felt very comfortable saying to my manager that I didn't understand the work I was given or asking him to explain the task. JP Morgan also provided me with key resources to support me with the work I was doing.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was given a project from day one therefore I knew that throughout my internship I had to work towards a tight time schedule to ensure that I finished the task that I was given and deliver the project at the end of my internship. I managed to complete this successfully.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a reasonable amount of responsibility during my time at JP morgan. My manager involved me in meetings and other high visibility activities which he was taking part in. I had my daily business as usual tasks but also my project to complete therefore I was always busy.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I can honestly say that the training I received during my internship will be used not just for my degree but for life! I learned so many different techniques of analysing graphs, charts and data. From pivots tables to Vlookups - I will definitely be using this once I get back to university.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere within my office was very good I have to say. Everyone worked well with each other even when we were under immerse pressure. During lunch time, everyone would have lunch today. In general it was a great atmosphere to work in - almost felt like they were your friends and not colleagues.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I think the internship was organised to some extent. From week 1 to week 7, I was very busy and had to work late hours to ensure that I was track to completing my project on time. However, from week 8 onwards I didn't really have a lot of responsibility and the days were slow.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • JP Morgan invest heavily a lot in their interns and analysts. The whole first week was basically training which I thought was great because I learnt many different skills and improved myself a lot during the course of the internship. JP Morgan also help you discover the skills you have .

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    Healthcare/Dental

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • During my time at JP morgan, I took a look at numerous roles available and I found some genuinely attractive roles which I envisioned myself doing in the future. Therefore I would say that future employment at JP morgan is very appealing and I hope to go back to the company after university.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Definitely! during the internship we had 3 intern socials which were organised by JP morgan. We had the first one during our first week, second mid internship social on the 6th week and we had our last one the day before we had finished our internship on the 10th week.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • My internship was in Canary Wharf which was based in east London, zone 2. I would say the food, drinks etc in Canary Wharf was quite expensive but I was bringing in my own lunch everyday so I would recommend doing this or you will be spending about £50 on food each week.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nightlife was great almost everyday. Once I left my office, there was a bar outside my work place therefore it was very easy to go out and have a few drinks after work. Thursday nights were probably the busiest and best night of the week - Friday was good but empty after 9pm as there were no clubs in canary.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Definitely but if I was being honest you have to find these activities yourself or organise it with other work colleagues. For example, one of my colleagues always organised football matches for my team therefore this made this quite easy for me get involved in activities such as football and basketball.
