    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • At first I found it quite overwhelming as it is so different to anything I have done before. However, when I had been there for a few weeks I started to develop my understanding of the business which really helped. Further into the placement you develop greater responsibility and I felt like I had been there for months not weeks as you learn so much so quickly.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The relationship I had with my colleagues was the part of the placement which stands out the most. We were such a good team who worked really hard together and also had a laugh every day. I felt valued by everyone even from the start when I was new and getting some things wrong! I will really miss the people I worked with!

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The support and help given was very good. The branch where I was placed was very busy so you learn so much yourselves on the job. This was great as you picked things up quickly but also there were other parts of the training which I would have liked to spend more time on which just wasn’t possible.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Everyday was a busy day which was fantastic because this is how you learn. It was a very fast paced environment which I thrived in as I have a strong work ethic. Although the hours you work are long, it’s very rewarding as you learn so much in such a short period of time.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was very surprised how much responsibility I was given during the placment. There was no limits to what you could you do which really helped you develop your understanding of the business. I felt that I had the same level of responsibility as my colleagues (apart from the management) which was great.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I learnt during this placment will help me in my studies and in future employment. One of the main ones is teamwork skills which is vital in whatever you do. It also helped me to develop my managerial skills and organisational skills which is another crucial transferable skill.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere in the office was fun and competitive, but also serious when required. Having such a close and fun team meant that the atmosphere was always very relaxed as we would always laugh and joke, but we all understood when we needed to change this as we were there to learn and work as well as have fun.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • At the start when you go for the training you get your training file which is what you work through as a management trainee. There was a bit of confusion of what interns had to achieve and in the last few weeks we were told we had to complete stage one. However, the training file is clear and states what you need to do in order to get through the training.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Personal development and training is a huge part of the business and I felt that the company have invested in me. This is because I was given a lot of responsibility throughout my placement and I have been offered a new role to continue whilst I study at university. This is helping me to continue my training and gain experience is another part of the business.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Future employment with Enterprise is very appealing as I already feel like I have made a great start and gained a huge amount of experience so when I finish University I will be going into a job feeling confident and having a great chance to progress quickly as I have already gained the experience.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I got on really well with my fellow placement colleagues, however, it was really hard to schedule social activities outside of work as work itself would take up so much time and we would all have our own plans on days off and we all lived quite far from each other which also made it difficult.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home when I did this placement and drove. The only thing which cost a significant amount was fuel as I had quite a long commute to work. However, I wouldn't be able to comment on the cost of living and socialising as I didn't live there and all socialising activities were paid for.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I lived at home when I did this placement so I wouldn't be able to comment on socialising in the area as I didn't live there. There was an area night out which was quite fun as I got to meet all of my other colleagues and it was a great chance to get to know the colleagues I would be working with.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are opportunities to get involved with, one of the main ones is pride. There are also many charity events that you can get involved in such as fun runs and big walks as Enterprise supports many charities. There are also football competitions and many other things you can take part in.
