About You
I really found the insight useful as it allowed me to see the head office in Edinburgh which is stunning. My favourite part of the insight that it finally allowed me to answer the Why RBS? Questions truthfully and honestly whilst showing real knowledge about the company and I really hopef that this showed in my final interview.
I feel like if we had been given some work to do it would have been better. Sometimes we were just watching/listening onto a phone conference which isn't always the best part of the day. But at the end of the day it was very well managed by the people we were shadowing and I got to the opportunity to speak to plemty of people at the office.
There was a career development day, so as well as stocking up on freebies we had the opportunity to learn about how career progression works at RBS. I also spoke to really helpful people on what changes they have made in their career so far and how easy it has been to switch streams.
I feel that I definitely improved in my team working skills. I came out of the internship with 16 new friends and a still very active group chat! I also think that I improved on my group discussion skills as one main thing I learnt was to listen to others and give others who are quiter a chance to open up.
The Company
The host did an amazing job in booking everything. Everything was on a strict time sechedule. I definitely enjoyed all aspexts of the insight. I was very lucky in the sense that I got to shadow some amazing people and now I have a better idea of what I would like like to do in the future.
There was always good banter going on. The atmosphere was perfect. It was serious when they needed to be and relaxed throughout. The days were really intense and having that banter and that relaxed atmosphere was really important in my opinion. i can definitely say I had a nice time.
Not much tbh but that was understandable. I do feel that they gave us a good basis in understanding how to present ourselves in interviews. We were taught hoe to give a quick pitch about ourselves. We also had talks from multiple people at high levels telling us about key skill sets
Having the opportunity to shadow different professionals for 2 or 3 hours each really allowed me to get a wide inside into all the aspects of data and analytics. I really did enjoy and like the fact that we were not asked to shadow the same person for the two days.
I really love the culture at the campus. The restaurant is amazing to start with. I would definitely recommend the noodle station as it is amazing. I also love the pop ups and the multiple events that happen every week. I liked the social side of the office as well and I really liked the work/balance life.
This was extremely valuable to me as I got a deep understanding of what I would like to be doing in the future and hopefully at RBS. I really do hope that I will do well in the future at RBS and this Insight week at RBS definitely gave me more of an insight to my career.
Everything Else
Yes i was adequately reimbursement. They paid for my bus travel in the mornings. My breakfast on two of the days, lunch on of the days at the staff restaurant. Also dinner was reimbursemed for Monday Tuesday and Wednesday night. I didnt need a hotel as I lived in Edinburgh. Dinner budget was 15. Breakfast and lunch was 5 each.
Yeah there were a fewand I did enjoy all of my time and speaking to everyone
There went any social events but that was understandable as ther was so much else packed into 3 days
Not really. this was not discussed as much at all.
