The Role
My placement has been invaluable to me. Great working / learning environment. I've really enjoyed every minute.
There's a real warmth to Cavendish, everybody really makes you feel part of the team.
From start to finish. My work was structured, and on-hand help was available to me for the duration. As well as structured training and field trips thrown in as part of the programme.
Enough to keep you going, no stress.
I was given quite a level of responsibility from week 1. I was given a free rein to make changes to existing designs, and was made to feel like my opinion really mattered.
I didn't believe my tutors when they said things like "placement students generally go up a grade when they come back for their final year". Now I understand the logic. it's not further technical knowledge you gain as such.. it's the ability to apply theoretical principles.. and build on your soft skills. These are the types of things you don't get as part of your course.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office is always very lively. The people are very approachable and helpful.
The programme was very well structured from start to finish, with the right help in place.
The company made it very clear from the start that the internship was something of a 'foot in the door', in terms of future progression with the business.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Very appealing. I will definitely be pursuing a career with Cavendish Nuclear.
The Culture
Yes. All of the interns were introduced to each other and encouraged to socialise and work together. As well as being introduced to other graduate cohorts etc.
Very good, and quite trendy social scene at Birchwood park. Cheap food too.
Didn't have any experience with this, so can't comment I'm afraid.
The opportunities were there should you want to get involved.
