About You
Found it very insightful with regards to learning about BP as a company as they went through the process of teaching us how things worked there, and then went into a little more detail of the supply and trading side - would've liked a greater focus towards that though, rather than upstream and downstream.
Everyone from the interns to senior staff was very accommodating and open to answering any questions we had about the company.
Somewhat received insight into the process of applying for a summer placement with BP but wasn't given anything more than generic advice and a reason to do so.
Didn't necessarily learn anything that would help with degree, though did find it interesting learning about the business.
The Company
Clear structure of how the day would go and what we would be doing, though I felt some things were added in that were unnecessary such as CV advice and transitional skills, these are topics that did not need to be covered within an insight day.
Open and welcoming from members of staff as much as they could be with sensitive information around. But also professional which made it enjoyable.
Provided some insight by telling us what they look for in successful candidates
Insight provided by the interns showed that a full time position with the firm would be enjoyable as they seemed to all find the environment quite relaxed and found that they could approach any members of staff with little stress for assistance.
Found a friendly and open company culture very different to the traditional trading that you would see in conventional investment banks, the relaxation of staff showed to be very appealing.
The day introduced the idea of trading specialising in commodities such as natural gas or crude oil, something that is a stable market and easy to analyse, a consideration for sure.
Everything Else
Reimbursed after 8 weeks for the cost of travelling down to London.
Opportunity squeezing into lunch to network with senior members of staff who were invited to eat with us.
Rushed opportunity to network with people from different departments but still managed to ask many questions to them.
This was not mentioned
Anyone particularly interested within commodities such as Oil or Gas and also keen within the finance industry would thrive within BP, with its very friendly and open environment.
