The Role
I quite like the experience I'm getting from working in the British Heart Foundation as a volunteer. The staff are really friendly and I felt like I was already part of the team and as if I had been working there for years. You are learn a lot about how the donations help in the research being carried out for heart disorders and illnesses.
I feel extremely valued. Like I said before, you feel as if you have been working there for years. My colleagues are friendly and they are approachable. There is a great spirit of team work. Everyone works well together and there is great diversity in the work force as well.
I was given a lot of support. She always asked if I'm alright and constantly tells .e that if I ever have a problem, I should take to her. She make a you feel good and happy. If you every have a problem, she is quick to help you out with no complain.
Not really too busy at all. Since its volunteering, you're allowed to start and leave whenever you want but you honestly don't even feel like leaving just because of the great friendly working environment. I help out whenever and wherever I can. So yes, I basically had a perfect balance.
Not really too much responsible at all. But I didn't even want one to begin with. I don't think the volunteers are allowed to have leadership roles and I therefore didn't have one. But since you can start and leave whenever, you could consider that being your own boss. But you must obviously follow and obey the instructions of superiors.
Oh, it will help a great lot. Since I plan on studying medicine, this has been fantastic work experience for me. I can put this on my applications and CVs. I've learnt from retail all the way to just learning how to listen to people and understand them. It all also improved my people skills.
The Company
It was great. Everything runs efficiently and effectively like clockwork. Everyone knows there roles and how to carry them out. Anything that may hinder work flow is quickly dealt with. Again like I've said, everyone including the superiors are extremely friendly and nice and are more than willing to help out with problems.
It was not too disorganised but at the same time it was not a 100% organised. It was pretty untidy most of the time and not really clean. But this is because of how busy the place always is. But in terms of work organisations, it was excellent. Everybody knows what to do.
They didn't really invest too much time in me but that's because I already know what to do.
Flexi Time
Above 25 days holiday
They are not bad and I know that I really liked and thoroughly enjoyed the place but I wouldn't really want to work there full time. Its just not something I could see myself doing. Its kind of like a lower level of what I want to do. But it wouldn't be a horrible job.
The Culture
Yes there was. Its the kind of place where you can have a nice chat with someone, provide you or they are not busy, and get to know one another. We also hangout after working hours. WE are all realky kind and friendly to one another which adds to the social scene.
Np cost at all in my case because I lived walking distance for it.
I'm not really into the nightlife scene so I didn't bother to mingle at night or go to bars etc. After work, I simply go home. But from what I've heard and observed, there are quite a few pubs near and thats where most of the people go after work.
Not that I know of but it is highly possible.
