The Role
The work was on the whole interesting, but petered out towards the end of the internship
I felt comfortable at all times approaching more senior employees, and I think they too felt no reservations over engaging with interns. Overall it felt like a very flat hierarchy, which helped to make my work feel valued
The training was excellent, and my manager was very hands-on
This varied a lot. Towards the beginning I was reasonably busy (a fair few tasks to be getting on with, plus 1 or 2 meetings a day), but by the final few weeks I was struggling to find things to do
I was left to get on with my own work, but I wouldn’t say I ever had a huge amount of responsibility
Almost no overlap with my degree. We’ll see about beyond!
The Company
People were positive and friendly, though hot-desking sometimes made for a tense atmosphere when people were without a desk. Pretty quiet at times
Again, started very well. First week of training was excellent, and the ‘lunch-and-learns’ over the 8 weeks were great. It felt like there was no centralised structure to the work I was set however, and this sometimes made it feel like my day-to-day tasks were a bit haphazard
First week training was excellent, as were ‘lunch-and-learns’. Manager also very good
Got a job with them!
The Culture
Yes, good socials set up bu the company, and fellow interns were always up for meeting outside of work
London is expensive
Lots of bars
There were a couple of socials, and some yoga sessions etc. After COB
