    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement. I felt that I was given a lot of responsibility and that I progressed very quickly. I worked with people that I really enjoyed spending time with and got to make good friends and memories out of the placement. Working with cars is something I never thought I'd be into, but over time my interest really grew as you get embedded in the Enterprise way of life.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very values, especially as time went on. At the start you do feel like you know nothing and you have to ask a million questions, but asking questions is good as it helps you learn and colleagues are happy to help as everyone started on the same scheme and know how it feels. By the end of my placement I felt that I was very valued and contributed a lot towards the company's goals

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a lot of support from management, I had regular lunches with my mentor where I felt I could discuss any issues. I had a few managers within my placement year as enterprise staff move around a lot, however I felt that they were all happy to help me if I needed anything.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My days varied, I worked in a quieter branch so had less customers than some people would expect. We tended to be very busy at the start and end of the week with serving customers and driving, and in the middle of the week I tended to be busy with admin tasks which were allocated to me. This helped the days go by quicker.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I feel that I was given a lot of responsibility. By the end of my placement I was trusted to run branches while my managers were away and guide other staff who were at a lower level than me. This helped increase my confidence and knowledge as I was always pushed to my potential.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel that the tasks I undertook on placement, helped me see how the subjects I learned at university would be put into practice in real life. This helped me learn more about the tasks and made me feel more like a business person, as opposed to just learning business. It also helped me realize which areas I actually wanted to study as I knew I enjoyed the work. I will use this knowledge and the skills I learned in future roles and feel more confident in an interview now.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere was fun and laid back, I felt that I really got to know my colleagues and became friends with them. Because we did so many activities outside of work, even when under pressure I did not feel awkward or uncomfortable as I was friends with my peers.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was very organized, at the start of the process I was advised about the stages I would go through. At each stage I was also told what would come next and advised on how to handle it. The placement start date was flexible around me and I never felt here was any confusion.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I feel that the training and development I received on placement I can take away with me to apply to my degree and make it more interesting. I also feel that the skills I learned I could apply to other jobs and I have built up my confidence. This would include things such as sales training and customer service.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Future employment prospects are appealing as I enjoyed my placement and by the end did not want to go back to uni, but wanted to carry on! I do have a goal of travelling when I graduate as I do not want to go into full time employment, however Enterprise have agreed to keep me on part time incase I change my mind

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social scene amongst staff was probably the best bit, we always had a laugh in the office and would usually organize things to do outside of work regularly. I felt that I made friends with my colleagues and that made me enjoy the placement so much more. Everyone around me had similar interests and we were all outgoing and up for a laugh so that helped

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living and socializing was quite low as I lived at home during my placement year. I did not have to pay a lot of rent or bills which meant I had more money to myself. As Enterprise is so widespread it would be easy to do a placement wherever you wanted

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • As I worked at home the nightlife was quite limited as I live in a rural area. However, we were always arranging nights out and events which helped. Our area night out was usually in a major city so the night life on placement was always good and I got to go to places I wouldn't usually.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Mainly activities to do with socializing. The boys would arrange football and things like that but I am not interested in things like that so didn't bother. We would arrange other days out like bowling and meals however.
