    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed the insight scheme. I found it to be an informative experience that explained the firm's ethos and the wok of a corporate law firm well. I particularly enjoyed the drafting skills session, the negotiation task, and the socialising.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Everyone was extremely helpful and seemingly happy to have us at the firm. I felt valued because everyone understood what it was like to be in my position, at the firm for the first time, and were willing to dispose of their knowledge.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I was always around someone who understood the timetable or someone who could answer my questions. I never felt clueless or unaware of what was going on during the scheme.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I developed - in terms of drafting, presentation, and negotiation skills - will be skills that I will continue to develop throughout my time at university, and during the rest of my career. Additionally, information regarding commercial awareness and the firm will be useful for interviews and work.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The timing was kept well and all of the sessions worked well with their neighbouring session.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • It was a constant flow of people enjoying themselves and enjoying learning all of the information - the days went by so fast as a consequence of this.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I particularly liked being gifted with the commercial handbooks, the firm clearly invested in our learning beyond the scheme.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • It was very different to what you would be doing on a training contract, but the work shadowing was insightful and offered an opportunity to not only bond with your training buddy, but see their role within a deal. The only downside was that the scheme was timed so that my buddy was only three weeks into his first seat, so he was unable to impart extensive knowledge or explain the work of his department in great detail. However, on my return visit, he was able to inform me in more depth as to his role in his prior seat.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I came away understanding the values of A&O, with personal insight to the firms culture.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I really enjoyed the content, the drafting and negotiation sessions were what confirmed for me that this was what I wanted to do in the future. However, I think that having an overview and case study of a few departments would have solidified this decision.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was reimbursed adequately, but a number of people live quite far away so require staying over night the night before the scheme, I am unsure whether this was reimbursed.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Every meal time involved networking, I me a range of employees from trainees to senior partners.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • They were extremely good, ranging from formal to informal and fun (Bounce).

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Not formally, however, it is information easily obtained from asking people you are networking with. These activities range from the musicals, the gym etc.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • It was a brilliant scheme that I learnt a great deal from. It has also opened many doors for me, one of those being into the firm itself.
