The Role
On the whole, I thoroughly enjoyed my placement. My project was extremely interesting and was in the field of my interest. Wider communications on the placement and more tours of site/departments could have been organised to give a better experience.
I felt like I was a valuable member of the team and my project drew a lot of interest from those around me. There was also a good number of undergraduates which was good for networking.
I was given good support from my team and my manager. I had regular informal catch ups with my manager which was very useful for progress in my project.
On a daily basis, I was fairly busy but if there were more tours I could've filled my time a bit better.
I was given a fair amount of responsibility for my placement but I would have enjoyed being a little more involved in the supplier meetings to see different potential technologies.
I believe I have learned a lot in project management and skills in different software. The skills I have learned will be useful within my final year of university and after I graduate.
The Company
The atmosphere was very relaxed and the people around me were very friendly. The team and the wider team were very good.
I feel my project was well set but the information given from HR was either non-existent, very vague or late a lot of the time.
I had a lot of options to get training and development. The company pushes these courses quite well.
The company is very forward thinking and the area I was working in was what I was interested in. It seems as if they are expanding within electrical which is good news.
The Culture
There was a big group of students based at Liberty Point in Coventry which was very good for networking and socialising.
The prices around Coventry were very good.
The nightlife wasn't bad but there could've been more options locally.
I believe there could've been more opportunities to get involved outside of work.
