The Role
My placement at GE gave me a great insight into what life is really like working in industry.
Great community feeling between all interns on site. This included activities and nights out.
At the start of placement i was assinged a placement mentor on site. This was someone who I could go to if any problems arised.
It was a good balance of being assigned tasks and finding my own projects. I never felt like I was wasting my while on placement.
At the start I was limited to how much I could take on but after training I was able branch out.
Everyone around sight was very approachable and gave me knowledge into manufacturing which I can't learn from a book.
The Company
Everyone was approachable and I worked well with other graduates/interns.
Induction into the placement went smooth but there was little in terms of training.
Training on site was at bare minimum. Any additional training was up to you to find but there was no platfrom for this.

GE is a great company to work with it's benefits and flexibility to work at so many sites.
The Culture
Socials were great but it was up to the interns to organize and fund then. We were promised a team who would work on planning events but this never came about.
Southampton was a great area to live plently of things to do and places to see. However, it was a was costly to live near the site.
Nightlife great in Southampton as there are plenty of bars and clubs to see.
It was up to the interns to organize activities outside of work but GE gave us a great platform to do so.
