    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • A fantastic atmosphere, very friendly people and excellent learning opportunities. Interns were treated like normal employees and it was evident that the firm wanted us to make the most of the placement. A lot of networking opportunities and friendly senior staff friendly, willing to share experiences. Our ideas were listened to and other people were keen to help us develop.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Work of an intern was valued equally to work of the normal employee. If someone was came up with a good idea and could demonstrate how this can benefit the project it was greatly appreciated. People I was working with really made me feel like a valued member of the team.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support was always available from almost everyone in the project team. Senior managers would take their time to explain things to an intern and every task was well explained. Whenever I needed help with something there was always someone willing to assist at hand. Additionally, every intern had a buddy individually assigned, who was to provide informal advice, guidance and could introduce you to a lot of people. Further support in professional development was available from a number of seminars and a knowledge sharing center.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I stayed busy most of the time but when I needed to take a break to meet someone, I could do it pretty much at any time. No one controls how much you work, you just need to make sure that you get your work done on time. Sometimes you have to be proactive in order to get some of the more difficult or interesting assignments.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A reasonable amount. Obviously an intern lacks certain expertise but whenever possible I was given as much independence and responsibility as I could handle. It varies depending on how well you are performing and if you proved that you are reliable.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • A really steep learning curve. Excel and PowerPoint magic is a bread and butter of this job so can learn some really useful tricks. Also gained a lot of confidence in presenting, team work, collaboration and knowledge sharing which is something you would do on a daily basis in this job.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Really nice and relaxed. People are very approachable, including the senior management. Open office environment really helps getting to know new people. A fantastic lunch canteen is a social hub of the office. Dress code is business casual so if you don't like a tie and a full suit you don't have to wear it.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well, everything you can expect is explained and provided. There is a lot of room for being proactive so how much you get from the placement really depends on you.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A lot of online training modules, seminars and networking events. Can have some flexibility as to the choice of the projects so you may decide how you want to develop. Someone is always available to help so if you need help to learn something just ask.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Vast majority of interns got a job offer. This varies among business lines but generally as long as you commit to work, are willing to learn and have some predispositions to do this job you should get an offer.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Great! Pub evenings and nights out every week. A lot of networking events and organised societies and clubs available to all.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Central London is quite an expensive area, sometimes can be ridiculously so. Some local gyms offer staff discounts but even with that its way too expensive. Accommodation and public transport will eat a large portion of your salary.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Expensive but great. And a lot of places to go. In this regard London is unlike any other city.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • A lot of clubs, societies, volunteering opportunities and interest groups. Can't really expect much more.
