The Role
Lovely company with lovely people. My manager was really helpful and welcoming and have set clear objectives so I can achieve my goals. Projects are beneficial to my own development and together I have saved money for JLR during the 12 months placement. I also ran my own 3D printing project which had a lasting impact on prototype development.
Very friendly colleagues who you can feel they want to know more about you. My colleagues do not see myself as a temporary 12 months placement student but rather want to build long lasting relationships with me. Many social nights were arranged and we all come together no matter the grade.
Very strong support was given to achieve my goals. I have worked alone as well as in a group and all tasks were given clear direction to allow us to stay on track. Fortnightly 1 to 1 and other feedback sessions help me identify areas of improvement and spot my strong areas.
Quite busy. I will not say there was never a dull moment because there ought to be periods of low key. However, I am able to find and lead projects on my own hoping to reduce cost or increase efficiency for the company. Many days however are busy and I feel I am constantly involved in huge key projects going forward.
High level of responsibility was given. I have to chair a weekly meeting with 4 supervisors in my department, create a metrics report for management which goes up to the directors. On top of that I have the means to lead projects on my own to achieve cost savings for the business and support was given to do so.
To a very large extent. During my placement I was given a lot of opportunity to develop communication, time management and team working skills. Many of which were transferrable and prove to be of tremendous help upon returning to university. I feel more confident working in teams and feel that I have a clearer direction for new tasks and the goals I want to achieve.
The Company
Very friendly atmosphere in my office. People greet each other in the morning and cover for each other when someone is off ill or on holiday. I feel that people value each other and appreciate that great work is produced by working together and JLR vehicles are a testament of that.
Nothing is perfect but this placement was the best I have had. Good support network, buddy to speak with, undergraduate community to chat and social, fortnightly manager review and catch up, supervisor guidance etc etc. What else can you ask for? I am overall very happy with that I have experienced and would greatly recommend JLR as an employer.
I was given opportunity to go for more than 5 full day courses covering advanced Excel skills, communication skills, negotiation skills, time management skills, effective team working skills and so on. Lunch was provided and we get to learn in a fancy hotel which was lovely! On top of that I get to spend 200 pound worth of ELS which I choose an activity of interest and participate in my free time.

Good employment package with very competitive salary and broad range of job functions available. I have got a return offer to the company and will looking forward in joining. Once you get your end of year review you will be given a decision and HR will inform you the intent to hire if your manager would like to bring you back!
The Culture
Lived in coventry with quite a few pubs and very good selection of restaurants including few Japanese ones, one very good Korean BBQ and a few nice Chinese restaurants. Cost of living is much lower than London where I study making it feels like almost a steal! Would love to come back again.
