The Role
I truly enjoyed my internship at RBC, coming to work everyday was actually really fun. The corporate culture at RBC is phenomenal, it doesn't have the traditional hierarchal corporate culture that you would expect at a bank.
I felt very valued while on the Internship. RBC truly makes a commitment to the Interns they hire. The human resource and graduate recruitment teams work very hard to ensure that your role is suitable for your skills and personality. I interviewed for a role in Luxembourg but it wasn't the right fit due logistical reasons but the graduate recruitment team found me the perfect role in Toronto. This demonstrated to me how much they value hiring young talent.
I was always set up for success in my role.
At RBC the level of responsibility you are given truly depends on how much you can handle. If you prove to your colleagues that you can take on a task you will likely be considered for doing it. If you want more responsibility all you have to do is ask.
The time management skills I learned helped me in my studies.
The Company
The general atmosphere at RBC is very fun. The office is very open concept which allows for collaboration . The open concept also really allows for you to get to know the people who sit near you. The office also has a work bar which is always a good time. RBC holds a ton of social events, which are easy to get involved in .
RBC being a large organization with tons of experience in onboarding interns, the internship is program is very organized. The only disorganized part of the internship is getting your computer access, but I imagine this is the case at any large company.
They invested pretty heavily in personal development. They truly want you to build your personal brand. They could however work on providing more technical training such as excel.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare/Dental
The future prospects are really good, I received a full time offer.
The Culture
The cost of living in central London is very high but this is expected.
Yes tons of opportunities from pub quizzes to sports teams.
