    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The work environment was very enjoyable and the company culture was very good. There was a lot of learning and development opportunities, which made my transition from a student to a employee easier.

  • I felt that my colleagues valued my contributions to projects and there was a range of teamwork opportunities that I benefited from.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisors were very supportive. I had a very open dialogue with them and we discussed my personal and professional development on a regular basis. This helped me throughout my placement.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I worked on projects so there were periods in time were I was less busy and other times were I had tight deadlines. Thankfully for flexi hours I was able to maintain a work life balance.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • In some projects I was able to take the lead, while others I had a very repetitive administrative role, all of which I learnt a lot from.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Throughout my placement I took part in over 100 hours of training and development. As a result my communication and IT skills have improved significantly.

  • Friendly and professional. People were always willing to help others on projects.

  • It was an established placement, however the roles were not as I expected.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The placement community was very big (over 40) so we spent a lot of time together and built strong professional and personal connections.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I had to relocate to Newport in South Wales; which has a relatively cheap price of living. However due to the distance I had to spend a lot of money travelling to see my friends and family back in England.

  • Not my scene, but I would recommend to people who like pop and pubs

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are a lot of extra curricular activities sucha s sports, volunteering and travelling in Wales and with the company.
