The Role
Really enjoyed it. The programme was filled with great things to do and allowed you to learn about both the role and industry to a high level. There were numerous extra curricular activities organsied too - it wasn't just all work. The teams were also filled with great people who were so helpful
Colleagues would only ask you to do tasks and projects that would either benefit the team or yourself so were very happy to be engaged in what you do. They were also great in the social sense, occasionally taking us out to events or things after work which was a nice touch
Same as the previous one really - they were really engaged and helpful because of the people and the nature of the projects
There was always so much to do from projects to classes to presentations etc. and I constantly felt like I was doing something. Only slight downside was near the end the number of tasks to do dried up after desks had had a number of interns, but that's only natural
It was a good balance between being independent but also having the help and support available when you needed it. I think with all the tasks and presentations, we were given the right level of responsibility given that we aren't allowed to have risk ourselves. The projects were challenging and with deadlines to work to
I had already completed my degree at that point but I know that a lot of the skills and things that I did would have been very useful for a lot of my third year modules that I chose. It was good to see the practical side of the theory though
The Company
People were really friendly and got on so the floor was great. Having said that, people still worked hard and got the job done
The placement was really well organised and it was really good that for the last two weeks the campus team tailored the programme more to accomodate people's preferences further
In terms of outside work, we did charity work and an event at a theatre to develop presentation skills. Whilst at work, however, we had weekly classes about different asset classes and areas of the bank to help us learn. Also, we had a full week of training and desk talks at the start of the internship
Company Parties/Events
I got a job with them at my first choice desk
The Culture
A few of us went on nights out and to watch the World Cup but not everyone got involved all the time. We did all go out together at the end of the internship though
Rent is so high and pints/food cost a lot too. But it's London, you have to expect it
There's something for everyone, just takes a while to find the right places
I got involved in a few things like swimming but it depends on how much people are willing to look for them
