The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my 6-week Internship at Cushman & Wakefield. I feel the internship programme was structured very well. There were a range of activities and workshops to participate in. Overall, the internship gave me the opportunity to gain valuable experience within the the building consultancy department. I was able to gain an insight into the company, the type of work and learn more about the training and development opportunities Cushman & Wakefield offer.
I personally felt very valued by colleagues at the company. I felt everyone was really friendly and supportive.
At the start of the Internship I was assigned a mentor and manager to report to. Over the 6-weeks both my mentor and manager were very supportive. At any time I was able to talk to them regarding any problems I had. In addition, my fellow colleagues in the team were equally as supportive. If i had any queries or problems, I knew I could speak to them about it.
This varied depending on the day. During the internship I had the opportunity to go on various site visits, produce reports and assist colleagues on different tasks, attend intern workshops and networking events.
I was given a lot of responsibility during my internship. I would always ask if any colleagues needed help with tasks and managed my time well to ensure I gained a wide range of experience.
At the start of the Internship I was asked to set 3 goals which I wanted to accomplish by the end of the internship. My manager ensured the type of work I was given and the site visits I attended were all relevant to meet these goals. Its important to always ask questions when unsure about something. This will definitely helped me develop my knowledge Overall, I felt during the internship I developed valuable skills and knowledge that will assist me in my final year of university.
The Company
The general atmosphere was positive, everyone at the company is very hardworking. The team relationship was very strong and everyone got on well together.
The Internship is very well organised and structured. There are a range of activities and workshops to attend throughout. There are opportunities to develop skills and knowledge as well as network with other interns and graduates within the company.
As I was apart of the internship this doesn't apply to me. However, working at C&W for 6-weeks and speaking to various employees within the company. Its clear to see how much time the company invest into training and development. The graduate scheme is really well structured. There is a lot of guidance and support provided and the company really prepare you well for the APC interview.
At the end of my internship, I received an offer to join the company as a graduate.
The Culture
There was a good social scene, there are a range of networking events to attend. Within the team we often went out for drinks after work. The department also has monthly team drinks and events.
I worked in C&W City office in London. The cost of living and socialising is slightly higher in London. However, many of the events hosted through the company were paid for.
Nightlife in London is really good. There are a wide range of clubs, bars and restaurants.
There are opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work.
