The Role
On the whole the internship I did at Macquarie was a very challenging experience where I had the opportunity to learn a lot on a daily basis.
Most people in the team paid attention to me and were grateful for the good work I did.
VPs I worked with always gave me support and guidance.
On a daily basis I was very busy and was given more work very quickly as soon as I had finished what I had to do.
I was given more responsibility at the end of the internship and I had the opportunity to be involved in big projects. However since I was an intern within the team I was not given a lot of responsibility.
I started a master's degree in finance last year and I am currently looking for a job in corporate finance in a bank. Therefore the internship I did in the M&A department was a good experience that will help me in the future
The Company
The atmosphere was great! Everyone was very professional and very kind. I've met very nice people in many different teams all over the internship.
The internship was very well organised. We had one training week at the beginning of the internship, and then some networking events during the internship.
I attended one training session in addition to the training week during the internship which was called "appropriate workplace behaviour".

Company Parties/Events
Due to bad market conditions, employment prospects are very low. Though I am still waiting for an answer for job in another team.
The Culture
There was a very good social scene amongst fellow interns and colleagues. Interns were very well integrated and could take part in any social / professional events and charity organised by the company.
Since I was working in the City nearby Moorgate, the cost of living was quite expensive. Though there were many bars and restaurants around the place that enabled us to organise some social events.
There are not many things to do at night in the area I worked in. People are either in the office working, or at home if they finished their work. Yet you have some bars open till 11 or 12pm where some people go.
I had the opportunity to take part in an offsite event in Oxford that takes place once a year and which is about business. I also attended some leaving drinks. But on the whole, as we were all working a lot it was a bit hard to organise social activities outside of work.
