    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I loved the insight day. Before attending I was unsure of whether a career in investment was in line with my skill set and who I am as a person. However, the combination of the activities, talks and networking opportunities really put me at ease by allowing me to more fully understand what investment companies do, and how their work matched with the skills I have developed.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • 5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I received an incredible amount of support. Not only were all my questions readily answered during the day, but all follow up queries were also acted upon. The whole HR team went above and beyond to answer my queries and really help me; something I have yet to experience elsewhere. It made me feel really valued.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The insight day really boosted my confidence. I think the trading game was such a wonderfully innovative way of introducing the finance basics to non-finance people. Furthermore, the opportunity to talk to graduates on the various graduate programmes allowed me to gain a better insight into the application process. I will definitely be utilising their advice throughout the recruitment period.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • It was really well structured and ran almost perfectly to time. I never felt rushed or like there was not enough time to network fully. I really enjoyed the balance of networking, activities and talks, and felt like it provided a really good insight into the company, its values and the working environment it fosters.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was professional, yet friendly. Everyone I spoke to was more than willing to answer my questions or find someone with the answer. The speakers were energetic and engaging. As investment is a notoriously male-dominated arena I thought that the atmosphere would be slightly intimidating, but it was very welcoming.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • There was a lot of emphases placed on cultivating an understanding of the firms structure, the role of graduates within the firm, and how the firm is going to change in the upcoming year. This really allowed me to understand how I would fit into the company, and where I could excel.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • More so than any other insight day/morning I have been to, this one really helped me to understand the company culture but also the relationship amongst the graduates on the schemes and the relationship the graduates had with their mentors, HR, and those higher up in the company. It also seemed really genuine.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Incredibly helpful.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • n/a

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes! We had the opportunity to listen to talks from two employees from different parts of the organisation. In addition, there were networking opportunities throughout the insight day and a panel discussion with eight graduates from the technology, business operations and investment wings. The sheer breadth of employees we talked to offered a unique opportunity.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • As someone who is still daunted by the prospect of networking events, this networking event was very relaxed and friendly. Because the networking event centred around us speaking to graduates on the various schemes. This opportunity and the friendliness of everyone involved allowed me to raise questions I would not have raised otherwise.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
