About You
I enjoyed the M&G insight day a lot. It was packed with different activities - from networking to trading exercises. The current employees gave good explanations in relation to their roles and current graduates were there to answer any questions the attendants may have had. I would recommend attending when you have a chance.
Not very applicable as it was only an insight day, but nevertheless, the company made the experience more than pleasurable.
This probably only applies to the group trading exercise on which we were given clear instructions and assistance where required.
I have traded stocks in the past and done lots of market research, so I was pretty familiar with the jargon used during the day. Perhaps, the experience is not that critical in terms of my studies, but definitely gave me a better picture of what it'd be like to work there.
The Company
Very well structured with a good timeline of events. We finished on time and did not have to rush too much in any parts of the day.
Really good. Met some nice people who were pleasant to talk to and did not try to come across as better than you. If you can pass the recruitment process, consider yourself lucky, as I think it'd be a great company to work for.
We received lunch if that counts. This was a 1 day event.
It definitely addressed that and as mentioned in the previous comment, it gave me a good idea of what it'd be like to work there. On the other hand, I have a passion for this industry, so it may have been easier for me to follow the content of the day and understand more of it.
Technology department - a t-shirt and a hoodie, anywhere else - professional business attire. Not sure about the actual mental culture.
It gave me that boost of confidence to apply for a grad role, but unfortunately, I did not succeed. I will try other investment companies.
Everything Else
Plenty. This was a big part of the insight day and plenty of time was dedicated for networking. Lots of people from different departments were available for engagement.
Employees were nice and easy to talk to. They were genuinely happy to spend time with you talking about their roles.
No, didn't ask.
Yes. If you're interested in investment banking, etc. but not sure what to expect or which company to apply for, try an insight day at M&G if you find it available. Will help get a better perspective of things for sure.
