The Role
It was a very interesting scheme. A lot of networking events were organised as well as other events which helped to get a feel of the company. Managers trusted responsible tasks, which helped to feel engaged with work. Feedback session were well organised and aimed at motivating you to perform better rather than critisize you.
I had a really small team presence in my location and the majority of team was oversees but they all were very approachable and supportive, ready to help or talk about their role within the team. The atmosphere in a team is very nice, everyone s ideas are welcome.
I was given all relevant training and I was also welcomed to ask questions. I was assigned some interesting individual task and the progress on it was disscused every week, which gave insight which direction should I move. A useful feedback was given to me by my manager as well.
I was quite busy most of the time during my work day, never too busy to stay overtime, but sometimes on a calm days I did not have much work to do, but this time could have been used for networking or getting to know teams of other interns.
I was given the same tasks as the other team members and was trusted to get in touch with more senior people or talk during the meeting about my work. A lot of my ideas were also considered, that actually made the whole experience very valuable.
It was very helpful as I got more confidence in communicating which is really important in Business and Management where we have a lot of group work. Moreover I became braver in terms of voicing my ideas and trying to come with the solutions rather than a problem.
The Company
It was really friendly, no pressure, which would seem surprising for a bank. Everyone was ready to help. Te office itself was very beautiful and nicely designed, had a lot of light, nice places to eat or have rest, together with outside area. It was a really healthy working atmosphere.
It was organised very well. A full introduction was given on the first day, panels with previous interns were organised, there were a lot of events for interns to share their experience. Corporate responsibility to get a feel of a culture of the company. A lot of networking events to learn more about the company.
I was given a full onlain training and also there was one live session of corporate values and culture. In addition there was an excel training, which however was in a too fast paced manner, so apart from handouts I did not find it particularly useful because of the way it was organised.
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
I was offered a grad scheme which I accepted, as I really enjoyed my internship. This organisation offers a lot of opportunities to move jobs withing organisation and learn new things, promotions, good pay and nice working atmosphere. This is a company were everyone can grow as professionals when they put enough efforts.
The Culture
We used to have lunch together and even spend time outside of work. There were social events for interns which contributed to getting so well with each other, even on the first day we had ice breaking games and social after induction, where everyone got a chance to talk.
I lived quite far from work, because closer to work it would be a bit expensive, but not too bad. The cost of socialising was standard, everyone from interns could afforded that. Transportation had standard pricing as well as well as food, the only expensive bit is accommodation.
I personally cannot say as I do not go out at night, but some interns seemed to enjoy it, there were also a Salsa partied organised which I think is a great idea. When I was passing by at night Pubs seemed to have a lot of people in, I would say even overcrowded.
I did swing dancing, went tho the swimming pool, classes in the gym and sauna, as this all falls under my interests. Moreover, the company itself has a lot of outside work clubs like badminton which I went to or football, for example. So it is quite easy to find something it is affordable and working hours allow you to do it.
