    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my internship. I met a lot of new people and learned a lot from my team and manager. Was a bit intimidating at the start but I was really happy to work with those people. It was one of my best summers ever and did not want the internship to end.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • They were really nice people. My colleagues were professional but we had a few laughs, really enjoyable atmosphere. It was a pleasure to work with those people and I will remember them until the rest of my life. I hope I return to the same team when I come back as a graduate.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • He was fantastic, cannot say anything bad for my manager. He was always helping me, no matter his workload and how busy he was! He was a really nice guy and was one of the smartest people on my floor. It was a pleasure to work with him and I hope I get to work with him again!

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I think it depends on the intern. I wanted to contribute as much as I could and make an impact so I was very busy at times. Sometime I coded for 5, 6 or 7 hours straight but sometimes it was really chill and I was just talking to my teammates.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was responsible to produce a functional product at the end of each sprint. Moreover, I had to present my product in front of around 10 people which included my team and the one sitting next to them. It was nice because I got to practice my presenting and public speaking skills.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I did not receive much training because the program was just 10 weeks but overall the internship was a very valuable learning experience because I used technologies previously unknown to me. It was my first work experience related to my degree and it was very valuable. For 10 weeks I learned as much as 2 years in uni!

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere at the Glasgow J.P. Morgan office was really pleasant and enjoyable. My team mates made my time at work very fun and exciting! The J.P Morgan employees were very positive and willing to give me a hand at all times. Overall, I believe it is one of the best atmospheres for a software engineers.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was very well organised. Every week we had talks from important people in the company and also we had events for interns (which was one of the best parts about this internship). Moreover, we had a meeting about our progress half way and at the end of the internship.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I am very excited about the prospect of coming back to the company as a graduate software engineer. I have already accepted the offer and would come back to work in September. Frankly I can't wait to come back to work, I think it is a so much better learning experience than university.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Socializing was one of the best aspects of the internship, if not the best! I met so so many new and exiting people. We had several intern events, in which we had free food and drinks, one time we played bowling and we had a party for the interns who got a graduate offer.
