The Role
My internship within Jp Morgan was an incredible opportunity. I wasn't expected to have that much opportunities, help and training. I have never learned as much in my life as during these five weeks. Everyone I talked to taught me something and I loved the fact that managers believed in us.
I felt extremely welcomed within JP Morgan. Besides everyone was smiley and nice, interns are very well taken into charge. We had a wide range of managers, buddies and recruiters that were always available to help us out with anything. Moreover, they valued us a lot, giving us lots of challenging opportunities to make us grow in the professional environment and get prepared for the future.
I was extremely impressed by the extent we were taken care of from the first day. Our recruiters did a wonderful job planning us some conferences, tutoring, e-learning, workshops, trainings and networking events. All of those helped me a lot throughout my internship.
My manager made sure I had enough work to do without being overwhelmed, therefore I had a very balanced life. Thus, I had very comfortable hours but at the same time, I always had something extremely interesting to do. It was nice to have time to relax, do sports and hang out with friends apart from the working hours.
My team was a more day to day activities team. Therefore, I had a few projects that I finished earlier than expected. However, I gave myself new responsibilities and projects by taking any opportunities I could find. Therefore, I can now say I had enough responsibilities.
It was great to learn how it actually works within a business. In my university, we learn more theoretical things rather than practical things. Coming to JP Morgan helped me put in practice everything I learned. It also helped me for this new year since I gained lots of knowledge in some subjects such as risk, organisation behaviour or excel.
The Company
My internship took place in the Bournemouth office. I found the atmosphere there very good. With everyone being less stressed, more helpful and smiley, I really think it made everyone provide better work. I don't think any of the interns had a bad social experience over there. We also had many socials with our teams or departments, which helped to build a welcoming and nice atmosphere.
The internship set up was extremely well organised. I know our recruiters spent a lot of time to make things right. On the fist day, we had an intuition day where they explained us every important things to know. Then, our recruiters organised weekly activities to help us go through this first professional experience.
From the first day, we had some e-learning to complete. Then, over the ten weeks, we had lots of trainings and workshops such as one for excel or about personal branding. Moreover, we had weekly catch ups with our manager to develop ourselves and always do better. Finally, we also had regular meetings with our buddies and recruiters to make sure everything was all right and get any type of advices. I'd also like to point the fact that everyone in the firm made themselves available to us if needed.

Coming to JP Morgan made me realise I would really like starting my professional career in this firm. I am actually coming back there next year for the graduate program. I think this company is great for your career and personal development.
The Culture
We had the chance to go to regular socials organised by our teams or our recruiters. Moreover, many events such as volunteering or hackathon were running throughout the internship, which helped us build strong and trustworthy relationships with our colleagues.
Bournemouth was a city quite easy and economic to live in. It was much cheaper than London or any big cities. Of course, it was still a bit to invest on, around 700 pounds a month for the house and 500 a month for the living expenses. However, our salary let us live quite well compared to the cost of living over there.
Nightlife wasn't the best ever since Bournemouth is quite a small town. However it was easy to enjoy a drink in the town center with the other interns.
I had the chance to do three volunteering events for the city outside the work.
