The Role
It was an interesting experience, with a lot of opportunities to connect with people from different universities. I also got the chance to work with very nice and helpful people that helped me develop and improve my coding skills. There were also some of events that made me enjoy this internship more.
Mostly, I felt as a valuable part of the team, working on tasks helpful for the business side especially or creating work that was helpful for multiple teams. However, I didn't feel completely useful sometimes, feeling like some of the tasks weren't really useful or some of my changes or the information gathered was ignored.
My manager was wonderful, helping me at every step of the way. He tried to give me work that will help me learn as much as possible, he listened to my opinions regarding my work and tried to give me tasks that would be as interesting as possible for me.
After completing a task, I fel there wasn't much for me to do and there were days when I didn't have much to do, waiting for new tasks. Depending on the tasks (some were easier than others) meant that some days were busier and some weren't. My main concern was the time I had to wait between tasks when I had nothing to do.
I wasn't given much responsibility, but that is understandable considering I was working on a desk aligned team. This meant I had to be very careful with changes I made and I wasn't very independent in my tasks, following rules regarding the implementation and the way the changes were put into production.
The skills were very useful to put into practice what I have learned so far at university. I also learned to be more organized, to ask more questions and ask for help when I need, I became more deadline oriented. I also learned about business aspects which I didn't get the chance to before which made me more interested in finance.
The Company
Everybody was friendly, willing to help whenever you needed. However, it was very quiet most of the time, a very serious atmosphere, everybody working on their own things. Also, it was very business-like, formal, not very fun. everybody was being very serious most of the time, focused on their own work.
Everything was very organised, the HR team was very helpful in keeping us up to date with events that were happening, with what we needed to do. We had a weekly newsletter telling us everything that needs to be done during the following weeks which I found being very helpful.
We had a lots of events to help us improve technically, like hackathons or conferences discussing cyber security. We also had the chance to do online training in various areas, which I found helpful to improve the business knowledge I needed. Also, we had the chance to shadow people in different areas and see what they work on

I was offered a job part of the Graduate Programme which I accepted because I enjoyed working at this company and I feel like it will be a great start for my career. This programme will help me be part of different teams and learn new technologies which is very exciting for me.
The Culture
We had a lot of events dedicated especially to students which gave us the chance to get know each other, spend some time together and share ideas and opinions. Also, the team I was part of had some social events which made me really feel as part of the team.
The area I worked in is quite expensive but you can easily reach to cheaper zones by underground or DLR. The rent is quite high if you want to live near the work place.
I didn't get to experience the nightlife very much but some of my colleagues said there were quite a few places where you can go after work.
We had general knowledge competitions, volunteering oportunities, a lots of teams you can join depending on your interests so I can say that you have a lot of activities you can get involved in.
