The Role
Good organisational culture, very collaborative. People were always willing to sit down and talk to about their role, This helped with my overall understanding of the asset management business The firm invest a lot in to training and host very good social events too.
Very valued. The team gave me responsibility from day one. In my second week I attended a client meeting. I also dialled into calls, attended teach ins and assisted with the preparation of client material. This was in addition to any other administrative tasks I was responsible for e.g sending out the weekly new summary and my two summer projects. One of which included a presentation to the wider team.
I was greatly supported by my manager during my summer internship. The goals and expectations for the 10 weeks were clear. I was given guidance where necessary whether it was something technical on the soft side. Feedback was given in real time prior to review days which was very helpful as it made the 10 weeks a learning process.
As a summer analyst in a sales team, my role was to support the client advisers in prospecting clients and attaining new business as well as supporting relationship management with their existing clients. Additionally, I was working on two summer projects which made it very busy for me during the 10 week period.
For a 10 week summer internship I would say I was given quite a bit of responsibility. I was relied upon for a lot of the administrative support that fed into the overall relationship management. This was alongside dealing with my projects. Additionally, in a sales role a initiative and ownership are required as things can be quite fast moving.
My summer internship experience has definitely made me more efficient and organised which is benefiting me in my final year of university. However I'd say my ability to effectively prioritise has greatly improved. During my internship there were various ad hoc tasks (e.g client requests) and that needed to be worked on immediately before reverting back my to do list.
The Company
General atmosphere in the office was very positive, people were very nice and friendly.
Very well organised. There was a week of training prior to hitting the desk which was very useful. HR also organised intern socials at different points during the internship which were enjoyable and good for meeting other interns. Interns were given two individual projects. There were two official reviews. Midway and at the end.
The firm invested a lot into the training of interns. There was a week of training. Which was very useful. The training focused on the technical aspects (e.g intro to equity and fixed income) and personal branding (your ability to present, how to hold a conversation). There were also ted talks and presentations from various senior leaders.

Very appealing. I was offered a place on the graduate analyst programme on the last day of my internship after my second review. I am very excited to be going back. HR stress the importance of good performance during the internship as it will likely lead to a graduate offer.
The Culture
HR organised intern socials which were very useful for social cohesion. The interns also made an effort to do things together when it wasn't too busy.
My internship was in London, which is an expensive city in general. However, my family is based in London so I lived at home with my mum meaning my living expenses were cut drastically. The only real cost was travel.
Nightlife was good, lots of choices for places to go out. However, during the 10 weeks I didn't go out a lot as I was busy with work and lived quite far from the office. My commute was 90 mins each away. I had to be quite selective about when I went out. Other interns who lived in closer proximity to the office seemed to enjoy the nightlife.
Due to the nature of my projects, I spent a lot of time at the office, however speaking to other interns and grads, there were definitely opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work be it sports or volunteering.
