The Role
Very enjoyable experience overall! The company made a great effort and the tutors did an excellent job in helping us to fit in.
Everyone was friendly and open.
Occsionally support was rare as people were very busy at times. Also, at some point as an intern you feel stupid to always ask questions that seem very basic, but are difficult to grasp for newcomers.
It was a decent amount, sometimes a bit bored, then at some days too busy, but I guess that is part of the job.
I suppose I was given as much responsibility as possible really, since some things are at the intern-stage simply to complicated or would take too long to train an intern to be prepared for those exercises. However, sometimes I felt like there wasn't a lot of skill required for doing the work I had to do.
I definately improved my teamworking skills and learnt how to deal with certain situations at a client. Excel and software training was also useful and will be helpful in the future. Will they help me to perform better at university? I'm not sure...
The Company
Friendly and cooperative. People were trying to get to know me, many social activities oytside of work
Very well organised. However, some of the training at the beginning was a bit useless and a bit intense. The time at latimer could have been a bit mor relaxed to actually get to know the other interns. Also there could have been more communication with the interns beforehand to determine preferences for client placements.
A lot was invested during first week at Latimer, with daily training. Afterwards, not so much anymore, except for some presentation skills training. There could have been more on people skills, excel, etc.
Company Parties/Events
The firm itself is great. ACA qualification as well. However, I think the financial reward compared to competitors that attract similar people, such as consulting or Banking, is rather poor.
The Culture
A lot of social events were organised, such as regular drinks, wine tasting, cricket match, etc. Interns organised many social events themselves too.
London is obviously very expensive.
Great nighlife in London, bars, pubs, theatre, clubs, jazz, etc.
