The Role
At J.P. Morgan, I was an environment in which learning everyday. The Morning Meetings were a great start to day - setting me up and getting my brain in action. I thought the Multi-Asset nature of Wealth Management was also suited to me. I was able to explore different options such as Equities, Bonds, Private Equity and Hedge Funds. In regards to learning about the world of Finance, this was a great opportunity. I enjoyed it thoroughly. The social events organised by J.P. Morgan were also great - creating a great environment for interns to socialise and 'soak in the culture'.
My colleagues and even people far superior to me such as Managing Directors were willing to sit down and engage with me. This was very comforting as it proved that there was an appreciation of what insights I could bring to J.P. Morgan to push it forward.
There were ample opportunities for me to voice concerns or ask questions. The internship was very structured in regards to feedback sessions - with both my Internship and Analyst Manager. The feedback given to me was invaluable as I grew both professionally and personally over the course of the internship.
I was helping the team on their day-to-day tasks as well as completing my individual Intern projects. At no point did I have nothing to be working on. I thought this was great as it meant I wasn't wasting my time. It also allowed me to realise what would be expected of me in the Full-Time role.
Given how junior I was, I loved how much I contributed to the team. I was tasked with writing stock updates for clients as well as producing a project which aimed to make the lives of Investors easier. I felt like I was truly part of the team which was satisfying.
I believe that I gained a tremendous amount - from both a personal and professional perspective. I believe that I grew in confidence - helping me with both my interpersonal and public speaking skills. There were countless opportunities to increase my technical knowledge too. We were also scheduled in for sessions at Bloomberg and RBC which were highly informative and enjoyable.
The Company
It was undoubtedly a professional environment but this did not mean that it was dull. There was a constant buzz in the office as Investors were on the phone to either clients or other employees. There was also a lot of movement in between the Banker and Investor sections of the office - creating a collaborative environment.
The organisation of the internship was impeccable. There was a clear structure planned for Interns - with optimum levels of communication. It created an environment for us to thrive, which I'm very grateful for. This is from both a professional and social perspective. J.P. Morgan, in this respect, was outstanding.
J.P. Morgan ran a training week before my time in the office began. This included sessions on how to Pitch with Impact as well as a comprehensive breakdown of Financial Markets. This was very helpful as it meant we felt even more prepared to excel in our teams. The training provided exceeded all of my expectations.

The internship was structured in a way that it was essentially a 10-week interview, with the chance to land a Full-Time position at the end. I am glad that I impressed during my internship and managed to get one myself. Extremely excited to start my career at this extraordinary organisation.
The Culture
Everyone on my internship was personable - given the nature of Wealth Management. We developed a very good bond amongst ourselves in our division, but also with the Asset Management class that we completed the training week with. Was also very happy to have attended the firm-wide social events as I was able to meet some great people from across the bank.
Working in Knightsbridge was very expensive in regards to food options. It is to be expected, given the prestige of the area but definitely hurt my wallet a fair bit! Luckily, I was able to commute from home but would expect London accommodation to be very expensive for those having to rent.
London has great transport links so it was very easy to find great spots after work. In regards to Knightsbridge specifically, we found a few nice spots for after work. J.P. Morgan also organised great nights, full of food and drinks, which the interns definitely appreciated! I was very happy with how things went.
J.P. Morgan offered great opportunities to get involved. For example, they organised a Corporate Responsibility Day which entailed all the interns - across all divisions - helping local communities in London with their communal gardening areas. There were also many opportunities to collaborate with the firm's Business Resource Groups. I was also able to help with the Social Mobility Foundation - a cause close to my heart.
