About You
I really enjoyed my placement and Cushman & Wakefield. I was kept very busy, felt valued and gained an understand property terminology and the market.
I felt very valued within the team. Contrary to previous work experiences, there wasn’t a moment where I didn’t have something to work on. Additionally, the work I produced was used directly by the team which again made me feel valued.
I was given a lot of guidance by the team as I was working closely with different members. I was never afraid to ask a question, and I found the guidance with particular IT skills and the RCA system very useful.
The skills I developed were very useful. I became a lot better with Excel and more importantly, I increased my commercial awareness and understanding of the property industry.
The Company
My work at the firm wasn’t particularly structured, however, this was simply down to the tasks involved. I was given things to do as and when I was needed. As there were a lot of them, the structure wasn’t a problem.
The atmosphere within the team was excellent. Everybody was friendly and inclusive whilst I particularly enjoyed the diversity of nationalities in the office.
I believe the company invested a lot of time in me as they thoroughly explained the tasks, and were interested in my academic background and career path.
By shadowing those around me, I feel as if I understood what it would be like to work at the company as I tried to closely follow their day to day tasks in the office.
By being in the office I certainly learnt the company’s culture of working collaboratively, being supportive and ambitious.
This was again very helpful as I now want to pursue a career in property. The team also spoke to me about the pros and cons of the industry, so I left with a clear understanding of what I can expect.
Everything Else
I meant some people from different departments but not many. I don’t feel this was a problem given the size of the EMEA Capital Markets Team.
As I was only on work experience, this was limited but not a problem.
The social opportunities of the firm were clear as I regularly spoke to members of the team about events run by the company.
