The Role
The internship offered me the opportunity to get to know the company, understand how projects are run and find out what sort of jobs are available and what would suit me best. At the same time, my tasks were mostly administrative so I didn't get to learn or develop skills directly related to the stream that I was part of.
My colleagues value my work as it is mainly time consuming and easy tasks that would block valuable time on their calendars.
Most of the tasks were admin so I did not get any training or guidance as it is not particularly needed. The only directions were mainly related to how to communicate and get in touch with different people around the company.
For the first few weeks I wasn't busy at all as nobody know what my role is. However, after a few weeks it picked up and I had something to do most of the times.
At first not very much, however in the second half I was assigned a piece of work that I was responsible for.
I think that I learned a lot about workplace environment which will definitely help in the future. However, in terms of hard skills I don't considered I gained to much out of this experience.
The Company
Everybody was nice and friendly but they worked pretty much independently, which took away the team spirit atmosphere. Many times I felt left alone or lost as there was nobody to offer support.
The internship activities were great but the actual job was pretty disorganized, it took a few weeks to figure out what I am supposed to do.
We did get a lot of support in terms of professional development and a few workshops designed for interns.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
I got a good understanding of what roles are available and where I might fit.
The Culture
Yes, the interns organised a few fundraising events.
The cost of living and socialising is very high as it is pretty close to the center of London
I don't know.
There were some fundraising activities that were organised during my internship.
