About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the Bank of England insight day. I had pressumptions about the Bank which were proven incorrect as a result of the knowledge obtained on the insight day at the Bank of England. I particularly enjoyed meeting peers of various age groups and backgrounds as I learnt about their objectives.
I believe there was not much opportunity to feel valued at the Bank of England insight day. This is because the day most consisted of a panel of employees from the different sectors, educating us about the available opportunities at the Bank. However I did feel valued in the trading exercise.
There was extensive guidance in the sense that the panel of employees were guiding us through the application process and available opportunities at the Bank, such as the different divisions available. There was not much opportunity for support as the insight day was short and was not set up for general support.
The impact of the information I received on assisting my degree was minimal. This is because the information I believe was not designed for this purpose. The information was more focused on the Bank of England, and what possible career paths are available there. However, I communicated with peers and employees which further improved my communication skills
The Company
The insight day was very well structured. We were given a timetable before the insight day, detailing how the day was supposed to go. On the actual day, this followed the plan as we were working on time. There was sufficient time to meet and network with people as well as hear presentations.
The atmosphere was exceptional at the insight day. It was full of hard-working, career-focused individuals who wanted to better themselves by adding an insight experience to their CV, and really validate their eagerness. furthermore, the atmosphere was competitive, especially during the trading game/exercise, as I believe everyone was eager to win.
In terms of personal training and development, I don’t believe that’s the Bank of England invested into me. This is for the reason that the programme was only an insight day, so there was not much “room” for this to happen. I believe that they were exemplary by investing into doing an insight day
I believe that the insight day at the Bank of England was exceptional in providing me with the understanding of what it would be like to have a full time role there. This is because employees from multiple divisions presented to us this information, in depth, which bettered our understanding of working at the Bank.
The Bank of England insight day was again execeptional in providing and understanding of the company culture. This is because, prior to the insight day, I have very mediocre thoughts of working at the Bank as it did not seem a “fun” place to work. However, after learning about the culture this completely changed my mind.
The value I obtained from the insight day at the Bank of England, more specifically the presentations, was not of substantial value to me in helping to decide on my future career path. This is because I already know what I want to do, however, I decided to undertake the insight day at the Bank to discover alternatives.
Everything Else
Prior to the insight day, I received an email from the Bank of England informing me that I will be reimbursed for travel expenses for a total cost of up to £30. However, I did not receive this reimbursement despite sending the correct evidence and documentation and emailing the accounts department on multiple occasions.
