    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The insight day was extremely enjoyable, it provided me with an invaluable insight on the asset management sector. There were networking opportunities and talks given by senior staff. The trading exercises were a great way to settle in and contribute within teams. All in all, the insight day was thoroughly enjoyable.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt very respected and valued as a person considering to apply at M&G. The recruitment staff were informal with us and really made us feel at ease. It was great to hear from senior management talk about their journey at the company. There were many opportunities to ask recent graduate staff any questions, and they responded respectfully with useful insights.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I received highly invaluable advice regarding the opportunities available at the company and the application process. Graduate staff were very helpful in providing us with insights and topics that should be looked into in regards to commercial awareness. The careers advice given was very helpful and really helped me understand more about the asset management sector.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The staff provided us with trading exercises which helped us work well in teams and develop skills necessary in asset management. This activity was very insightful, portraying the role of an investment manager and the key contributors involved in making an investment decision. The advice given regarding career progression and the trends to look into was very helpful to us students.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The day started off by a talk by the recruitment staff giving an overview about the company. There was also a couple of talks by senior staff between break and lunch. Trading exercises went throughout the day. These exercises were extremely enjoyable, although it would have been nice to have been given final feedback, so as to understand what an investment team really looks at when making an investment decision.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • It was a very friendly, yet professional environment. The recruitment staff were quite informal to an extent, but were very respectful and helpful by making us feel at ease during the insight event. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to talk to senior staff and recent graduate staff. There was a perfect balance of activities and talks as well as networking opportunities as well as a Question and Answer session with recent graduates and interns.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As undergraduate students, it was very respectful to be given a range of advice that would help us in our career. Even in this one-day programme, the company invested a great amount of resources to help provide us with information and advice relating gaining further insights in to the asset management sector.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The networking event at the insight day allowed us to talk to recent graduates who understood the recruitment process. They provided us with a very concise overview on how to develop an interest in the industry and they also provided us with a thorough understanding of the day-to-day responsibilities within the company.

  • The insight day event was structured so that student understood what the company was about, what the company focuses on and what it values. The talks given by senior management perfectly described the essence of working in asset management, and the skills needed to working for a company like M&G.

  • The presentations given during the insight day were very informative yet concise. Students were welcomed to understand more about the company, and the various roles involved, like the Investment and Tech roles. We were able to find out how to find our strengths to find out where we can fit into a company like M&G.

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were a range of opportunities to meet senior management, recent graduate staff and interns. They provided us with a range of topics to try and find an interest in. They were respectable and informal. I could hold conversations with them and freely ask them questions. The networking opportunities were very well structured and gave us the freedom to see what working for the company is truly entails.
