The Role
Excellent work environment which allows you to develop your professional career at the firm while maintaining the focus on ACA training. PWC gives you a real opportunity to stretch yourself and fulfill your potential in the jobs and assignments given.
From day one you are effectively put in a class of graduate starters in both training and college. It becomes almost like being back at school with your peer group. I have made some excellent friends. My seniors were largely excellent mentors who provided me with support and giving me the responsibility which made me a valued member of the team.
Managers and senior team members provided me with support and guidance when required while providing me with regular feedback and encouragement to develop quickly into the role requirements.
Although very busy during the busy periods there was still plenty of social distractions after work to your unwind. During summer when things weren't so busy there was plenty of opportunities to develop within the firm and opportunity to find time for other interests.
Within reason I was given a large amount of responsibility for the work assigned to me. When I was looking to take on more, colleagues were willing to give it while still making sure I didn't take on too much for my own good.
9 out of 15 ACA exams done. Half time qualified. Excellent knowledge of both Excel and Accounting fundamentals. Need I say more!
The Company
Business like but at the same time not overly competitive or dull. As long as the work was done and the client was happy no one had a problem with keeping staff morale up.
Strangely HR had no idea about who was on business placement. This turned out to be because of staff changes and no one acting as liason for placements. Once these problems were sorted the continuity was there and it was a little better organised.
The ACA qualification. Internal Audit and Excel training. Excellent preparation for the job.

They were also understanding in allowing me to diversify out of just my business unit when returning to them.
The Culture
I am still in contact with most of them.
Business unit events were funded by contributions by the firm and colleagues which mean't many events were costless. Outside of this we organised a number of informal get togethers which was unavoidably expenseive in central London.
Some of the best nights out.
With so many employees, backgrounds and interests ranging from sport to intellectual to religious groups, PWC is unrivalled in its offering outside of work.
