About You
I really enjoyed my time in on the Summer vacation scheme at Linklaters. The workshops, networking sessions and opportunities to get involved with pro bono work offered, what I believe to be a realistic insight into what working at Linklaters would be like. The Graduate Recruitment team were very helpful in explaining processes throughout the four weeks.
During my vacation scheme I felt my contribution was valued and that I was a part of the team, irrespective of whichever department I sat in. My work was given constructive feedback and I felt that whatever I produced was valued by the team. Moreover, Trainees asking to complete additional tasks for them is evidence of my work being valued and that my contribution is of some worth to the department - no matter how small.
Both of my prinicipals and trainee buddies were exceptionally helpful in answering any queries or clarifying complex concepts. I felt as if I could approach anyone in the firm to ask questions and this was a warning feeling. The Graduate recruitment team were also very helpful in providing support leading upto final round interviews for training contracts and were always on hand to clarify any issues or questions.
The skills I have acquired and developed have come in handy during my final year at University. When working in my dissertation I have often needed to get through copious amounts of text and extract the key information or argument needed - this was a skill I developed to an enhanced level during my vacation scheme.
The Company
The scheme was very well structured and the timetable was very well balanced. No day was over burdened with activities and there was enough time to complete other tasks for principals. The socials were also a balanced across the four weeks and the structure also accommodated for final interviews which was useful.
The atmosphere was very positive. I felt that the environment was open friendly and transparent and that there was no concerted effort to disguise or paint the firm culture in a certain way. This was very useful when trying to judge if the firm was a good fit for me.
