About You
I had a great experience working at Linklaters during my four week vacation scheme at the firm last summer. I got to sit in two different practice groups and therefor, got to see different sides to the firm. This proved to me that the culture of the firm is consistent through out. Furthermore, there were also many social organized for the vacation scheme students where we got to know each other. It was a great group of likeminded and ambitious individuals. This made the experience even more enjoyable.
I felt valued as a vacation scheme student at Linklaters. I was given interesting work, was allowed to attend client meetings and even visit court one day. I felt that the whole team were keen to get me involved in the work they were doing especially, my principal and trainee buddy.
Throughout my time at Linklaters, I received the necessary amount of guidance I needed while working on the tasks I had at hand. I always felt comfortable asking questions, especially to two my trainee buddies. At the end of my time in each seat, I received honest and constructive feedback from both of my principals and trainee buddies. I appreciated this a great deal.
My vacation scheme not only enhanced my technical knowledge in the practice areas I sat in, but has also helped me continue to develop my time management and presenting skills. The scheme has also helped me in my company law and commercial law modules this year at university. The scheme has also helped me understand more about how a commercial law firm in the City works.
The Company
The vacation scheme was extremely well structured. We received an itinerary on the first day which laid out all our presentations, assignments and socials we had in the month to come. Therefor, I could plan out how I was going to divide up my time and leave time for tasks given to me by my principal.
The vacation scheme had a great general atmosphere. Both of the practice areas I sat in were welcoming and excited to get the vacation schemers involved in some work. The lawyers at Linklaters also transmitted a genuine enthusiasm for the work they were doing which was inspiring. There was also a great atmosphere between the vacation schemers.
