The Role
Fantastic year, great company, great people and fantastic role
IBMers are always really helpful and friendly. The preparation that is needed when you leave your placement shows the level of responsibility in your job.
Not only does every Intern have a task manager assigned to them, you are also supplied with a Personal Development Manager to help you develop throughout your year
Sometimes I was very busy, but that was mainly because of projects I had chosen to do outside my role
I was solely creating newsletters, running events within the community etc.
Time management is the skill that I believe will help me most in my final year
The Company
At IBM, dependent on your manager, you are allowed to work flexibly throughout your placement so sometimes the office could be quiet. However a few locations have large amounts on Interns to provide you with some friendly faces throughout the day
The team that are in charge of Interns are fantastic. They organise many events, training sessions etc for you to attend during your year.
There were online courses that could be done throughout the year, presentation workshops, networking events, training sessions etc.
Flexi Time
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
I would love to return as a graduate at IBM
The Culture
There were 40+ Interns alone in my location and 200+ in the company that year and it increased in 2011/12
Just outside London, therefore very cheap but with London only 20 minutes away
London was that little bit further away, but still accessible
With numerous Interns there were always events being organised and community work opportunities
