The Role
I had a great time and enjoyed many new experiences. It also gave me a great insight into tech consultancy. My managers offered a lot of support and I would recommend this placement to other people. Having over 100 interns in the office was also go for me development as we compared roles.
I found that my colleagues treated me as a regular worker rather than just an intern. This helped me to succeed in my role and grow in confidence. My ideas were considered by the whole team and that allowed me to make a real impact in my job. They also gave me great constructive feedback.
Our Early Development Managers met with us regularly to discuss our goals and how things were going. My Manager Helen was particularly helpful and my year wouldn't have been as successful without her. My task manager and team were also supportive and allowed me to explore the areas I was interested in.
My workload changed from project to project. Sometimes I would stay later than usual but this was not often. I found it easier to manage my schedule after the three month period. Also, my managers were understanding if I needed more time with a particular piece of work or I was too busy.
This depended on the project I was on. At first I was not given a large amount of responsibility but I ended up leading a particular project. We were seen as a normal worker rather than just an intern which I believe was important to IBM. This appealed to me.
I learned new coding languages and photoshop skills. This may not benefit my degree but I hope to use these skills in future. I also have improved on my excel spreadsheet skills and i was able to use different crm programmes. Hopefully this will come in handy in the future also.
The Company
My office was very modern and had a good atmosphere. However, there was a definite change on each floor in terms of fun, technical abilities and age. It would have been good to try to merge this. However everyone was friendly, helpful and a pleasure to work with in the office.
Excellent. The whole foundation team to a great job with the programmes they offer and the process from Intern to Grad is thorough and well structured. Having Early Professional Managers (EPMs) is also a big help as they are able to answer any questions or concerns that we may have.
I was sent to a few external events and this was great for my development as it sparked ideas which I could bring back to the office. It would have been good to work more closely with clients as I believe this would have made me even m ore ready for a graduate role.

They offer a range of consultancy based graduate roles. The technical and business consultancy roles are appealing as they are very vast and diverse. I have been offered one of them. It would be great to understand more about the type of projects graduates take on when they start back.
The Culture
There was over 100 interns based in my office which was great for socialising as we would regularly explore london and attend various events. I am not sure if this was the same in every other office but this was very prominent in London. I recommend the south bank office.
The cost of living was very high in Waterloo, London. We received a sign on bonus and increased salary because of it. But it is extremely hard to budget social events if you have to pay rent in the city. Transport costs were also very high so I recommend cycling.
There isn't a better nightlife in Europe probably. There are many clubs and pubs local to the offer and london caters to all tastes. There are also nice restaurants and jazz bars if you want more of a chilled evening. However it is quite pricey around the office so may be worth travelling a bit.
There was a company football team that I was a part of who played matches on Mondays. We also organised an intern 5 a side team who played in Shepherds Bush every Wednesday. I believe some of the girls organised a netball team too and some other interns went running.
