The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at IBM and was given the opportunity to explore various roles and career options.
I felt valued and the opportunity to meet so many clients confirmed their confidence in me.
I was hugely supported by my manager [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] who helped me wherever he could in my career development and university work.
The first three months were very busy but then I increased my work load by joining committees and other groups.
I felt that by the end of the year I was given great responsibility in managing WSR position and waterfall system which helped my confidence.
I have already recognised the development of my time management and organisation skills during my last year of university.
The Company
On busy days the atmosphere was exciting and busy and friendly. However some days it was only the interns in the office which were quiet and not as engaging.
Really well organised, I had clear structure to my week which I picked up quickly and clear levels of management to work with.
IBM was fantastic in providing an engaging learning platform to extend my development and understanding of the industry I was working in. Management was also very engaged in my personal development.
Working from home
Very appealing because of the time management takes in developing your personal skills and supporting your career interests.
The Culture
I was very lucky to be able to be part of a fun engaging and welcoming team within Storage in Systems HW. I was able to socialise on many occasions outside of the office.
I did find London much more expensive than university but with budgeting I managed.
London was full of things to do and places to visit - loved it!
IBM was great at offering sports teams as well as learning and tech events.
