    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Great insight into running your own label, trusted with everything and pushed to use my full potential. Was given more responsibility than expected, but wouldn't change a thing about the experience. I learnt so much and developed so many skills by being involved in every single stage of a product, from fabrics to development to sewing and then marketing and sale.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Couldn't fault the full-time staff. It is a very high standard of work there and they always were happy to help you if you struggled or didn't understand. Other placement students can become frustrating if they are not at the same level, but that is to be expected.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Lots of support whilst on the job. For example, I personally struggle with set in sleeves. Don't know why but before this placement they were impossible to me. However, Dragana pushed me and stayed patient with me and now its a breeze. I did receive some responsibilities I felt was a bit too much, running the store alone, teaching other students, but looking back I enjoyed the experience.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Always something to do, people to meet, products to sew, places to travel and fabric to adore and go through. I felt involved in everything and even if it seemed minor to myself at the time she went through and explained why its such a big thing to self-employed individuals and own labels.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • So much and too much. Involved in every product, photo shoots and also teaching other students. I would be invited to interviews for other students, which i felt was awkward at first but its nice to see other people experiences.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My sewing skills are exponentially better and my time mangement has been brilliant since. Always helpful now I'm in the final year.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Could be lonely in the studio but you can always play music, everyone is usually very happy and chatty.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There wasn't much of a structure to the days, that's only because every day was something new.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Invest in myself, I couldn't say. I understand she relied on me a lot for the year but aside from that I'm not sure, she taught me a lot and maybe emotionally invested in my work and my future after working for a whole 12 months for her.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Above 25 days holiday

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I feel there are slim paid employment offers but there are opportunities to display your work in the store for the London public to buy.

    2/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Not so much between other students, Dragana has taken me to shows and lunch before and i loved every second as she showed me around London

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Expensive. It's London. However, she did subsidise travel within the tube while on the job (e.g. to work and back home, delivery while working etc) However there is always something going on in London. Great for fashion students!

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Honestly didn't personally go out. I worked nearly every day to help with living costs. But its London so take a guess

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Again I worked constantly but went to museums regularly for studies and research for the final year

    5/5
