    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The internship was all-round perfectly coordinated and structured. As interns we got the ability to network and become close peers in the beginning weeks thanks to Visa's Global Intern Summit. Thereafter it was both challenging yet motivating, especially seeing the impact we got to make as interns. It was overall a perfect blend of interesting projects and tasks as well as awesome socials organised by HR. HR also organised Excel and Powerpoint workshops which was very useful!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Very. Everyone was very supportive and welcoming, especially in the initial few weeks. Each intern had their own team and line manager although everyone was very helpful and willing to answer any question or query I had. It was very encouraged to collaborate with other teams and divisions and I believe this truly allowed me to learn a lot during my internship.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The teams we worked in were all very open and supportive. We had 1-to-1 meeting with our line manager for catchups and also attended team meetings. All interns were given specific projects which was great, especially since these projects aligned with Visa's vision. I truly felt as if as interns we were making a change for the better!

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was always something to do, especially since we were each given our own projects to work on. HR also organised out of office work trips to help us learn more about the company whilst depending on the team you got to work on other various tasks throughout the summer. Work-life balance was also highly encouraged which was good.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • We were given a lot of responsibility and all our projects were focusing on very current issues. We also got to present our findings to higher management whilst giving recommendations, as well as showcasing our work to the executive team. Overall as interns we were treated with respect and our recommendations were always considered as if full time.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It assisted me a lot, especially the online university tool. Learning different skills and softwares for free was a definite perk of the internship! Also learning the structure of the company as well as procedures involved in our own teams helped a lot. There was definitely a mixture of soft and hard skills that I got to learn during my summer.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • General atmosphere was good, especially since there were a lot of buzz around the FIFA World Cup. There were usually different talks to attend, as well as volunteering opportunities which I thought were great as encouraged. A positive atmosphere was also heightened by festivities and a email newsletter by the executive team which provided an all-round insight into what other divisions are working on and succeeding in.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised. HR was very enthusiastic and always looking for ways to promote collaboration amongst interns via events. HR was also very transparent and communicative during the weeks leading up to the internship which was super helpful. They were always willing to answer questions or follow-up on a query.

  • The firm provided us interns will a magnitude of opportunities and learning tools throughout the internship which was incredible! They even provided a workshop for giving presentations in the weeks leading up to the project presentations. Overall it was a great experience and overall a great environment for learning more and growing your skills.

  • Very great - multitude of various events and socials were organised for us. We got to bond over various different trips as well. This was great for some of us who did not permanently live in London. Overall we were always encouraged to bond and collaborate, which a lot of us did.
