The Role
It was very enjoyable. I learned a lot and met friendly colleagues, spent some time with them during my spare time. I was given larger project that I could steer on my own and my colleagues also valued my work. I felt that I was given a good level of responsibility by my manager.
High. After they have seen my VBA and programming knowledge, I received further projects and tasks regarding programming. I indeed had the feeling that they valued my work and not using my knowledge, etc. This was because they couldn't really succeed the tasks, so they were not giving the tasks to me because they were lazy or so.
My manager was very busy but he always was there when I needed him in urgent cases. He knew all processes and people very well and recommended actions to me. Other than my manager, my colleagues also tried the best to support me and explain processes to me as good as they can. Nobody ever refused answering when I've asked them.
In the beginning, I was working for 2 students so the amount of workload was huge. I did a lot of overtime and dedicated my time to work. Besides the daily tasks (about 3-4 daily tasks), I worked on projects where it required to talk to partners or go down to the line.
Very much, since I was allowed to steer my projects on my own. My supervisors trusted me and gave me freedom to make progress on the projects. Still, they wanted to see intermediate results and gave me recommendations how to continue working on the projects. But my own recommendations were also considered and if they were good, they approved them.
I improved my VBA and SQL skills very well. I have heard and work a little bit with VBA and SQL in university, but having hands on now turned our to be very great. I believe they will be helpful in my future career. This is also the area where I would like to be.
The Company
Mainly good because we have so many kinds of people in the department. So if one is in a bad mood, there are still many more other people who are in a good mood to balance. We joke around most of the time, which make the working time seem to fly very fast.
My two predecessor have prepared very well for my arrival. Workwear, safety shoes and system access were ready on my first day. Daily tasks were determined from the beginning. I didn't have a direct supervisor who I was working with permanently. It was more working for the whole team. Still, I didn't have the feeling that I haven't been supervised because it seemed like the whole team was my supervisor.
I was more developing my personal skills and knowledge on my own, so with the workload and related experience I was collection, rather than that the firm has invested into workshops or similar to develop my skills. Maybe the company should organized more workshops for interns to develop personal skills such as organizing, and dealing with daily matters.

I think, if I really wanted to I could continue working for BMW or Rolls Royce. My manager would make an effort to find me a offer or position if I have asked him to. People here really appreciate you and they would help you as much as they can.
The Culture
English and Germans interns were isolated from each other. So I was mostly travelling or spending my spare time with German interns. This is what was sad about it because you are here in England to socialize with locals. But the English interns shut them out from Germans so it was hard to socialize with them. I guess it is because they are here for a year and most Germans are here for 6 months.
The cost are very high because I spent money on travelling. We travelled around England, went to Scotland and Wales. Flights were not very expensive but the accomodations. The gym was very expensive as well. Even with discount, I had to pay £ 43 for a month. Busses, trains and taxi were expensive as well in the small town Chichester.
In Chichester Nightlife was pretty much poor because the club closes at 2 am. On Fridays and weekends, it was crowded. Other than that, restaurants and pubs were amazing. We spent a lot of evenings in the pubs. Unfortunately, in Chichester pubs close at 11 pm. Same goes for shopping. If shops are closing at 5 pm, you can not really go shopping after work.
Not in Chichester, since everything closes very early. Only things I did after work was going to the gym, to the pub or staying at somebody's house. There are other opportunities, such as going to the beach or visiting a nearby city. But in winter, you don't want to cycle an hour in the cold and in the dark.
