  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • Loved everything about IBM, especially having a professional development manager who made sure you got the most out of your year.

    • Most my colleagues did not know I was a student until I was leaving, I had a lot of responsibility and felt very valued.

    • I found it hard moving away for the first time but I easily got through the year because I had fantastic managers who were really understanding.

    • I was always very busy but I got to be involved in a lot of projects not directly linked to my job. I would not change anything about my year.

    • I got a lot of responsibility but always had guidance when needed.

    • We got to take part in a lot of education and I find it has been very useful.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • Our office was quiet but we had a lot of other students based at North Harbour so we could meet up when we had a break.

    • Foundation organised everything, we had 3 month reviews and also had managers we could go to if we needed anything.

    • We got to take part in a lot of education with general IBMers.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • We had a fantastic year, it was still like being a student but being paid!

    • Portsmouth was quite cheap.
