About You
I thought the insight was particularly helpful, in comparison to some other schemes that I had previously attended as well. There was a clear effort to showcase all aspects of the firm and great opportunities to meet the firm's people through the various events. Especially enjoyable for me was the advocacy group presentation - as the area and group that I am most interested in, it was great to hear specifics about the practice from a Senior Associate.
I think it is difficult to truly feel a sense of belonging and community considering the scheme was 2 days. That being said, I did feel very welcome and appreciated for my contributions to discussions. I felt particularly integrated during the networking at the end of the first day, which it felt like Trainees and Partners were making an effort to speak to me.
Guidance and advice given was incredibly helpful - I will be relying on it to apply for the Vac Scheme next year!
In particular, the two negotiation-style workshops were very relevant to me. As many firms (including HSF) rely on a case study at the assessment Centre, learning about the key issues and dissecting a case were valuable experiences.
The Company
Slightly awkward breaks but on the whole very smooth and well structured. A good balance of interactivity and being presented to.
I thought HSF invested a significant amount into my development during this workshop, especially considering it was only over two days.
The most relevant and valuable part of this workshop in this regard was the interaction with the trainee Solicitors - their views on the firm are most recent and updated, and many of their concerns mirrored our own.
Generally, the company culture was made clear at various interactions with the members of the firm.
I am now more certain that I am keen to pursue the path of a solicitor-advocate.
Everything Else
I live in London and did not seek any reimbursement.
The networking event at the end of the first day was really enjoyable and in a great location!
The presentation on Pro Bono and Beam was quite enjoyable. However I would have liked to hear a bit more about the firm's approach to citizenship and community building in other areas.
