About You
i would say this day was very vital in helping me decide on what i want to do for my future career path. firstly it showed me the company: the culture and people in the area which i wanted to work in, it showed me that there isn't a limit on your background and any degree can work as long as you are willing to work. also the trading ex really gave me an insight which was extremely enjoyable to me and something which i want to do.
there were networking lunch event in between during the day and we had a chance to talk to recent graduates who have secured a job and also long time employees. they can down and were very friendly. they were very honest and open and were very inspiring about the job they do.
When it came to taking time out or having a work balance life, the employees had a lot of say about that. Most of the people as they worked in teams usually set out days after or towards the end of a project to do an activity. They said the company supports them in getting involved into activities outside of work and for some of the people's work hours are flexible and they can enjoy more activities.
the insight day really helped me understand the company culture. this was done by firstly by the people who came and gave presentations. they were people from non traditional background who have risen up in the company and how they excelled. also by the network events in between the day when recent graduates who secured a job and long time employees came down to talk to us. this really gave an insight into how the company culture was.
The Company
It was well structured. I would definitely recommend this insight day at M&G Prudential to friends. It taught me a lot about the role of an analyst, mainly within equities. Also, and perhaps more importantly, I learnt a great deal about the firm in general - how they operate, treat employees, their culture.
A friendly atmosphere. i had loads of questions which were gladly answered. i was really worried about my lack of experience and that i wasn't doing a finance degree. but i met loads of people who didn't even study STEM subjects and this was really good to see. I was also worried about the application process. All my worries and questions were answered by the people in the event.
I received an incredible amount of support. Not only were all my questions readily answered during the day, but all follow up queries were also acted upon. The whole HR team went above and beyond to answer my queries and really help me; something I have yet to experience elsewhere. It made me feel really valued.
I think the trading game was such a wonderfully innovative way of introducing the finance basics to non-finance people. Furthermore, the opportunity to talk to graduates on the various graduate programmes allowed me to gain a better insight into the application process. I will definitely be utilising their advice throughout the recruitment period.
Everyone I spoke to was more than willing to answer my questions or find someone with the answer. The speakers were energetic and engaging. As investment is a notoriously male-dominated arena I thought that the atmosphere would be slightly intimidating, but it was very welcoming therefore a good company culture.
There was a lot of emphases placed on cultivating an understanding of the firms structure, the role of graduates within the firm, and how the firm is going to change in the upcoming year. This really allowed me to understand how I would fit into the company, and where I could excel.
