About You
I thought this Insight Day was very insightful in the role of M&G and overall asset management. It also provided an invaluable opportunity to question current graduates at M&G on their experience and receive recommendations they would give for the application process. The trading simulation game was one of my favourite parts!
Every question was welcomed and answered thoroughly. During the networking session, various M&G specialists were very open and friendly and gave an overall very positive impression of M&G. I feel that it was very encouraging of M&G to state that applicants from various degrees are welcome and that they would receive sufficient training even if they did not have the relevant experience in advance. All candidates are respected and valued.
The insight day was well structured and you were aided in any worries or questions you had.
I believe it gave a very clear idea of what investment management is and the types of roles you could be expected to be in on a daily basis. It helped me understand better key financial concepts and participate in trading simulations under a time pressured environment, carefully making decisions and learning from past errors as I went along.
The Company
Though it was a very busy day, I feel that the breaks were sufficient and the insight day was a very smooth process. I really enjoyed the structure of this event. It gave you the opportunity to get to know the other participants of this insight day as well as employees.
I feel that it was a very motivating and positive environment where you were not only encouraged to work with people you may have never known before, but also gain confidence in your financial knowledge and in asking questions about what you would like to know. Overall, I feel that it was an experience in which you not only had fun, but also gained invaluable knowledge along the way.
I feel that M&G was very open to allowing students to ask questions about the application process and were very open to any questions or worries students had. I feel that though there was no one-to-one support, you still were able to develop on your own and in a team when completing the trading simulation game.
I feel that it gave me a thorough understanding of the culture of M&G where individuals are respected and encouraged to develop. There was a strong emphasis on the importance of work as well as 'play' and the overall supportive and motivating environment where colleagues aid eachother in their duties.
As said above, there was a huge emphasis on the important of the balance between work and 'play' and the overall aim of colleagues to spend time with eachother and help eachother grow. It appeared to me as a company with a very strong ethos of empowerment as a team.
I feel that it gave me invaluable information on investment management and the various types of duties you would be expected to carry out on a day to day basis. It aided me in my envisioning of the type of financial career I would like to follow in the future and the overall prospects of entails.
Everything Else
There was a very long networking session where you were able to have lunch and network with various M&G specialists who were able to give you invaluable advice and answer any queries you may have on M&G. It was also useful to be able to talk with current graduates who were able to give a sincere and fresh outlook on the application process and the work post uni life.
As said above. You were also encouraged to pose questions towards panel speakers who were graduate students, giving you an honest outlook on the life at M&G. There were ample opportunities to ask questions and any doubts you may have had in certain financial aspects of about the application process. It was an overall very informative session.
I understood the emphasis M&G places on its workers regarding the importance of getting to know your work colleagues and maintaining that healthy relationship in and out the workplace. I was also given information on ski trips that teams within M&G undertake and the events they participate in. It's a healthy balance of work and play.
I would greatly recommend this to anyone who would like to improve on their interpersonal skills and confidence. Being able to work within a team and aim to achieve a certain goal in the trading challenge was a truly special experience without having known anyone prior to the event. It is a great experience which allows you to understand the culture of M&G.
