About You
I gained an in-deplete insight into the firm and was a good platform to next work with many different employees during my placement.
The staff were always approachable and happy to help with any questions.
People were prepared to go above and beyond. E.g. when I wanted to talk to someone from a specific firm and they didn’t know anyone, they’d ask other people they know until they found someone for me to reach out too.
I believe the session where we had to be persuasive in our speeches will help in many aspects.
The Company
It was well-structured, although I think some sessions were very short, I.e. research discussion panel which was very enjoyable to talk about but an hour was just slightly too short.
Very positive and supportive, as well as welcoming.
They have invested in me a lot by ensuring people from many areas of the firm were present, as well as non-finanace related sessions, I.e. persuasive speaking.
Yes, I feel that I have grasped a good understanding of the culture by meeting management and hearing from team members as to how approachable and open their teams are.
Very helpful, all of Barclays values were expressed in everyday of the insight.
Incredibly valuable. Doing different sessions, meeting teams from different areas and networking with them outside of the programme really helped me decide that Banking was for me, despite initially coming into the firm to explore sales.
Everything Else
I was paid and my expenses covered, I.e travel and accommodation.
100%, i networked with trading, m&a, sales and more. It was hard to schedule meetings due to the length of the programme but it was achievable.
Networking event was good but I think a later day would have been better as some people were confused and struggled to articulate questions since they haven’t done trading sessions, etc.
A lot of football teams were mentioned and golf. I think it would have been great to hear what other women did outside of work too.
It’s a great introduction into the industry and deciding what area interests you the most.
