About You
The Barclays front office spring week was an opportunity for me to develop key insight into the different divisions within the business. We received presentations from business reps, I had the opportunity to network and meet different people around the business. Overall, I am grateful for the exposure to such a great frim.
Every step of your journey, you will be valued and respected. You can ask HR questions and they will guide you, you can meet people in the business who will support you. You can ask questions and not be in a judgemental environment and you will grow as a person.
The insight is all encompassing of activities which will enable you to learn, people who are will to guide you when you reach out to them. Overall, the spring week is just an opportunity for you to learn.
I believe the level of exposure given by Barclays is invaluable, knowledge is power and if you take on board what you learn it will enable you to decide your future. I will go back to my degree with a lot more focus of the skills I need to build.
The Company
HR has done a fantastic job of combining a lot of relevant activities, into the space of a week. They understand the exposure you need at the stage that you are at and they give it to you. You have the opportunity to explore banking and markets throughout your time at the frim.
The culture at the firm is respectful and collaborative. Barclays values represent the people you meet at the firm. They are kind supportive and genuinely open to your questions.
The week consists of group activities in which you will be able to work with new and interesting people. You have networking opportunities which enable you to meet the business representative and build relationships. You will learn new and exciting things about investment banking. Overall, you will grow as an individual.
The insight at Barclays is an honest exposure to banking and markets. By honest I mean, people are willing and open to give you that understanding of what the week entails.
From the interactions with everyone you meet you can learn more from them about what it means to work at the firm. Barclays has high employee retention, this is because the place exudes a culture of respect and collaboration.
Every day enables you to learn and from leaning you are able to decide on your pathway forward. The most important way Barclays helps us to learn is by being open to questions.
Everything Else
The first day at the firm, the business organised a networking event with managing directors and senior people at the firm. Every session is led by people in the frim and you are able to grow your network by reaching out to them for coffee.
The opportunities were invaluable for expanding your reach as an intern. I have met managing directors and directors who were willing and open to answering questions which makes you feel valued.
Barclays has various initiatives for diversity, inclusivity, and networking for staff members. Which you will learn about when you join.
I would definitely recommend this opportunity to those who are keen to learn about the industry at a great firm like Barclays.
