About You
I really enjoyed the internship. The company provided accomodation as well as breakfast and lunch which meant besides the busy day schedule, I also spent a lot of time with fellow interns in the evening socialising. The day schedule was very informative with a range of speakers and good balance between presentations and activities.
It really did feel like everyone at the company valued our presence and went out of their way to help us, present to us and answer the many questions we had. Furthermore, there was a lot of focus of shadowing and networking with the current cohort of grad students which made the experience very relatable.
Everything was really well organised. The schedule was clear and easy to follow. The company provided accomodation, breakfast and lunch so we didn't have to worry about any of these things. Throughout the day, two HR managers were also constantly making sure everything ran smoothly so that we could make the most of the week.
The program focused on a lot of transferable skills as well as specific knowledge on technology within the financial industry. The transferable skills include how to communicate effectively with different types of people and networking. This is very useful for any career path. The knowledge gained about fintech and how the bank is adapting has been very informative as well.
The Company
The insight program was very well structured. The timetable was given beforehand and it included all activities as well as their location. The day was packed and at all times I felt like the program was running smoothly. Throughout the day they also communicated with us if we were changing locations.
The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. It did not feel very competitive or cut-throat at all. Everyone was very friendly and all the interns got on well with each other ensuring the success of the week on multiple levels. This included time after the program officially ended for that day.
Quite heavily. Not only did they get many people involved from different area's of the business to come and talk to us and present about their work. There were also various networking opportunities where people took time out of their work to talk to us. Finally, there were also various workshops.
I think the extensive amount of networking and work shadowing gave a pretty good insight into what it would be like working with the firm full-time. Various current graduates had also gone through the spring program and summer internship and so their advice was very relatable. All relevant parts of the business were also presented.
Here once again, I think the work shadowing really helped. I was able to ask a lot of questions regarding the working culture. The current graduates also gave a lot of information about the social aspect of the company as a whole and the program they were in at the moment.
I think most of the content was to do with how the bank was using or wanted to use technology and so I am now much more knowledgeable about the intersection of the financial industry with technology. To decide on a career path other industries should probably be explored but it was very valuable.
Everything Else
Yes, there were many in fact. Not only could you speak the various people that gave us a presentation and talked about what they did. Specific networking sessions were also organised to foster relationships with the current employees. Finally the work shadowing sessions were also an opportunity to meet employees of the firm.
Yes, there are various forums in which you can get involved. This goes from wakeboarding to cultural societies. One graduate even mentioned that the work for these forums they are sometimes allowed to do during their time at work. Overall it really seemed like there were activites for pretty much anyone.
