    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Barclays definitely put a lot of effort into this spring week, they had members of the Glasgow office come over and make presentations, they even had the CIO come over. They also arranged a work shadow which was super interesting to see the daily life at Barclays and what it might be like.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I actually felt very valued by the company. I felt that even though I was just a member of spring week I was already treated like an employee of Barclays. They also compensated me quite well for my time and any expenses I might have occured during the spring week.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We were given a lot of support and CV tips during our interview. They told us about the star method for interviewing and also what they would be interviewing us about. At one point we also had a workshop on CVs and we were given a lot of tips on how to improve it.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I wouldn't says the skills we learned were about my degree because they weren't. Instead we learned about the structure of Barclays how programming works at Barclays with agile and waterfall methods etc. However they did say a lot of life skills like how to write a CV etc that will definitely help me in my future career.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very well structured, everything was very well ran. Lunch was always provided for us and during out networking session, they even provided us some pizza and drinks. All the speakers always showed up on time and we never ran into any hiccups with the work shadowing or anything like that.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • A spring week is a week long interview I don't really think there is any way to sugarcoat that. That being said they tried thier very best to make this spring week as fun as they could possibly make it. One part that I particularly enjoyed was a team building activity, where they had someone from outside Barclays come in and have us play a bunch of teamwork games.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company invested quite a lot in us they threw a networking event for us so we could make valuable connections that could help us in our future career. They gave us a bunch of CV tips and they also had us work on our personal brand which I think is really important.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight helped me a lot to understand what it would be like to have a full time role in this company. Especially with all the work shadowing that we did I got a much better understanding of the culture at barclays, the work life balance and just what you do on a day to day basis.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Like I said in my previous question, they helped me understand the company culture a lot more then through researching the company online. They also had a bunch of grads come speak to us and tell us about their experience. And some people that I spoke to were not afraid to criticize some parts of Barclays.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Very valuable, I feel like it solidified my desire to work in the financial sector. As someone who studied economics and computer science I was always looking for a way to combine my expertise at both and I think the spring week at Barclays made me realize that this is very possible.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was paid adequately but they only provided hotels for those who lived more then 1 hour 30 minutes away.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • We were given a lot of networking opportunities, including sessions and work shadowing.
