About You
I really enjoyed it, I liked getting hear from the experience of people on the graduate scheme as that’s something I’d like to do hopefully. The only thing I would want to change is to bring in some more female developers or analysts, it would have been great to get more insight into their experience.
I felt extremely valued. During the work shadowing, the graduate who was showing me around was so welcoming and so nice, he made sure to keep it friendly and informal so that we could ask any questions that were on our mind and his answers were really insightful and helped confirm that I would want to join the Barclays team
There was lots of guidance and support, we had loads of people from the company who came in to speak to us and gave insight into the workings of Barclays. We also had work shadowing where we could ask more questions and set to rest any concerns we had which was really helpful.
The skills are going to be incredibly useful. The tips we were given for writing CVs and job interviews will help us so much in the future for any job that we go for. And the information we were given about fintech will be really useful in the future as I will likely be working in fintech after graduation
The Company
It was really well structured. The timetable was done really well and nothing ever ran over time or finished too early. We were given talks by people in every area of the company so we were given a broad insight into how everything is run, I learned a lot for the future
The general atmosphere was really great. All of the other spring weekers were really lovely and keen to make friends which made everything more fun and relaxed. The speaker who came in to talk to us or the people who came in for the networking sessions were also really friendly and informative.
They invested a lot. We were given lots of general job training, so for example with our CVs and for job interview tips. We were given lots of networking oppurtunities which is an important skill and so it was useful to get to improve and practice that skill
For this I think the work shadowing sessions and the graduate networking session were the most insightful. Getting to talk to people who are just a couple of years ahead of us in their experience was really reassuring and informative that this is a company I’d like to work for
It helped a lot because a lot of the people who came to speak to us spoke about the same things which was that the culture is very warm and friendly
Really valuable. I wasn’t totally convinced on entering fintech but now I feel more confident in entering that area
Everything Else
There were plenty of networking opportunities throughout the week which were useful as this is a skill I would need to work on and this gave me the chance to do that
They were good, I would have liked if there were more group tasks to sometimes separate the talks
Yes, the graduates told us about the great work-life balance and all the different thing you can get involved in or organise
Yes, I would definitely recommend. It’s really useful and great experience
